Description

🌿 Why does your system need chelated iron ?

Iron is an essential nutrient for photosynthesis and plant growth. Without it, leaves turn yellow (iron chlorosis) while keeping their veins green. In aquaponics and hydroponics, iron easily precipitates depending on the pH of the water, which is where chelation comes in.

DTPA 11% chelated iron protects iron from precipitation thanks to the DTPA chelating agent, which keeps the iron in a form that can be directly assimilated by plant roots and leaves, across the entire pH range of 4 to 7.5, which is the range where the vast majority of aquaponic systems operate.

🌱 The advantages of DTPA 11% Iron

With its optimal 11% concentration, DTPA contains nearly twice as much pure iron as EDDHA, allowing for more economical dosages for an equivalent result. Its activity range between pH 4 and 7.5 makes it the perfect compromise for most aquaponic systems: this is precisely the interval in which the vast majority of well-balanced installations operate.

Unlike EDDHA, it does not color the water : your tank remains perfectly clear after each application. 100% water-soluble, it dissolves without leaving any residue, and its dual application, foliar spray on the leaves, or root directly in the water, offers you real flexibility of daily use.

Tested and validated for aquaponic environments, it is safe for your fish and compatible with organic farming specifications. Produced in Europe, it boasts a purity of over 99% and consistent quality from batch to batch. Result: chlorosis symptoms disappear in just a few days.

🧑‍🌾 Recommended dosage

  • Prevention (maintenance) : 12 g per 1,000 L of water
  • Curative treatment (confirmed deficiency) : 18 g per 1,000 L of water
  • Foliar application : 1 to 2 g/L of water, spray on leaves
  • Target level in water : 2 to 3 ppm (mg/L) of iron
  • Frequency : one application every 2 to 3 weeks

💡 Tip : Use an iron tester to check your level before and after adding. The ideal level in aquaponics is between 2 and 3 ppm. Since DTPA is more concentrated than EDDHA, you use less product for the same result.

⚠️ Note on UV lamp

DTPA Iron is photodegradable: UV light can break the bond between iron and the chelating agent. If your system is equipped with a UV lamp, turn it off for 6 to 12 hours after each application to allow time for the plants to absorb the chelated iron before degradation.

🐟 Compatible with all systems

DTPA 11% Iron is particularly suitable for all forms of aquaponics (NFT, DWC, media beds, hybrid systems), where it covers the entire usually encountered pH range. It is also very suitable for hydroponics at neutral pH and classic soilless crops. Generally, any system maintained between pH 4 and 7.5, whether acidic or neutral, will fully benefit from this form of chelate, which is undoubtedly the most versatile of the three.
