The NFT 100 × 80 mm outlet cap closes the downstream end of an NFT channel and returns the nutrient solution to the reservoir through a 32 mm opening. This matches the diameter of a push-fit or PVC fitting, sold separately. You need just one per line, fitted at the low end towards which the slope carries the water.
This end cap closes the lower end of a 100 x 80 mm profile and incorporates a 32 mm outlet through which the water returns to the reservoir. A completely open end discharges water without any control and allows light into the base of the channel, while a closed end with no outlet retains water within the run.
💧 Organising the return
The outlet accepts a 32 mm polypropylene push-fit fitting or a standard 32 mm PVC fitting, whichever suits your existing pipework. The end cap is fitted at the lowest point of the run, the end towards which the slope directs the water, and only one is needed per run, regardless of how many channels are joined upstream.

What matters is the low end of the run, not the low end of each individual channel.

The fitting goes on the side where the slope carries the water, never on the inlet side.

The solid cap for the head of the line
At the other end of the channel, the plain end cap closes the head of the line, on the inlet side. Both end caps are fitted together on the gutter supplied without end stops, and ordering them at the same time saves you from having to stop the installation halfway through. Allow one of each per line, plus the 32 mm fitting that will carry the water to the reservoir.
🔌 Glue or keep it removable
The choice depends on the intended lifespan of the line. PVC glue seals permanently and no longer weeps: it is the right choice for a line installed once and for all. Silicone also holds and can be removed with a cutter, which matters if you dismantle the line between cycles to scrub the channels. In both cases, dry-fit the end cap, set the channel to its slope and run clean water through before sealing anything.
If you would rather not glue anything, the factory-sealed channel arrives with its ends already finished, either with drainage at both ends or with drainage and an end cap. This outlet cap is then used only to redo a damaged end, or to fit a channel that you have cut to your own length. In that case, deburr the cut and check that it is square before fitting the end piece, because an angled edge leaves a gap that neither glue nor silicone will fill durably.
📏 The outlet above the reservoir
The simplest option is to let the water fall freely from the outlet into the reservoir placed below: you can then see the stream each time it flows, which lets you check at a glance that the line is running. A fitting becomes necessary as soon as the return has to cover a distance, go around an obstacle or join several lines into a single 32 mm pipe. In that case, keep a continuous slope down to the reservoir, with no low point where water would stagnate.
