🌿 28-plant NFT system : compact, productive and made in Italy
The Growrilla 28-plant NFT system is designed for hydroponics enthusiasts looking for a compact, productive format. With its 4 one-metre food-grade PVC channels, it holds up to 28 plants within a small 120 x 60 cm footprint, ideal for a terrace, covered balcony or kitchen. It sets up in under an hour and runs autonomously as a closed loop.
💧 How the NFT technique works
The principle of the Nutrient Film Technique relies on a thin film of nutrient solution flowing continuously along the bottom of each channel. The plants' roots constantly take up water, oxygen and nutrients, which speeds up their growth compared with traditional soil growing.
The Resun 600-1000 L/h pump, submerged in the reservoir, pushes the solution up to the high point of each channel. The water then flows by gravity back to the tank, forming a closed loop that saves water and fertiliser.
🌱 Who is this model suited to
The NFT 28 targets hydroponics beginners and urban hobby growers who want to experiment without investing in a pro-size format. Recommended crops are lettuces (butterhead, batavia, romaine), herbs (basil, parsley, chives, coriander, mint) and everbearing strawberries.
The 100x50 mm channels are perfectly suited to these plants with a small root volume. For hungrier crops (tomatoes, peppers), look to the NFT 36 Pro Line or a DWC system.

🔧 Day-to-day installation and maintenance
Installation takes less than an hour : assembling the aluminium frame, connecting the channels, plugging in the pump and filling the reservoir with nutrient solution. An illustrated manual is provided.
Weekly maintenance comes down to checking the EC and pH, topping up the water and adjusting the nutrient solution. Every 15 to 20 days, drain and refresh the tank to start again on a healthy basis.
💡 Tips for continuous harvests
To maximise yield, practise staggered sowing : transplant 4 to 7 new seedlings each week. You then get a near-daily harvest rather than a single production peak. That is the major advantage of NFT over soil growing.
In summer, shield the reservoir from direct light to prevent algae growth and keep the solution below 22 degrees. A 30 % shade cloth is usually enough on an exposed balcony or terrace.
✅ Why choose the Growrilla NFT 28
This system combines compactness, Italian quality and productivity. The food-grade PVC guarantees zero chemical migration into the nutrient solution, and Italian manufacturing ensures channels and fittings stay rigid through 8 to 10 years of continuous use.
You also benefit from the Growrilla ecosystem : spare parts available (pumps, pots, fittings), compatible accessories (lights, supports, nutrients) and technical support in French via Univers-Aquaponie.
NFT vs DWC : which technique for your crops
NFT uses less water and allows faster crop rotation than DWC, but requires a pump running permanently. DWC tolerates power cuts better but uses more water and takes up more volume.
For lettuces, herbs and strawberries, the NFT 28 is the most efficient, attractive and productive choice. If you are aiming for tomatoes, peppers or cucumbers, look instead at our DWC range or the NFT 36 Pro Line.
🛡️ Warranty, shipping and after-sales service
The NFT 28 comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, Resun pump included. It ships from the Growrilla workshop in Turin within 3 to 7 working days to mainland France, insured shipping included. After-sales service is handled directly by Univers-Aquaponie in French.
