Growrilla 19 L hydroponic grow bucket : the bucket of Italian RDWC systems
The 19 L grow bucket is the core component of every Growrilla RDWC system. Its lid holds a 14 cm net pot, it houses the air stone that oxygenates the nutrient solution and it takes the push-fit fittings connecting it to the controller bucket. Its 19-litre capacity provides enough water reserve to absorb pH and EC fluctuations without sudden drift, making it a versatile format for growing tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, cucumbers or herbs.
This part is just as useful for expanding an existing kit as for replacing a damaged bucket. Compatibility depends on the generation of your system : RDWC 2.0 systems use 32 mm push-fit fittings while recent RDWC PRO systems run on 50 mm. Check your kit before ordering.
💧 Anti-algae double-wall design
The technical signature of the Growrilla bucket is its co-moulded double wall. The interior is absolute black : no light passes through the material, which prevents the photosynthesis of the green algae that normally proliferate in any nutrient-rich water exposed to light. The exterior is reflective white : it reflects the radiant energy of HPS or LED lamps and limits the temperature rise of the nutrient solution in summer.
The polypropylene used is food-grade and UV-resistant, allowing use in a greenhouse or outdoors. The wall is thick enough not to deform once filled, and the reinforced base prevents any sagging even when loaded with a mature root system.

- Fittings : 32 mm push-fit (2.0 variant) or 50 mm push-fit (PRO variant)
- Net pot compatibility : 14 cm (5.5 inch) heavy-duty net pot
- Country of origin : Italy, Growrilla workshop in Robassomero (Turin)
Uses : expansion, replacement, home project
Kit expansion : add 1 to 4 buckets to an existing RDWC kit to upgrade from a 4-bucket setup to a 6- or 8-bucket one. First check that your air pump and water pump can handle the extra flow.
Replacement : if a bucket has been cracked (drop, impact), order the bucket on its own rather than a full kit. Polypropylene bonds poorly even with dedicated PP glue, so replacing is the better option.
Hybrid DIY project : usable as a standalone DWC bucket (without recirculation) with a simple air stone, to experiment with a single-unit hydroponic system. Decent performance on tomatoes in 60 to 80 days.
✅ Why choose the Growrilla 19 L bucket
On the DWC market, few buckets offer a co-moulded anti-algae double wall. Most competitors settle for a plain opaque bucket whose contents turn green within days as soon as it is exposed to direct light. The Growrilla bucket solves this problem by design. You save on an extra cover and gain thermal stability.
Manufacturing in Italy guarantees strict quality control and precise dimensional tolerances, essential for the push-fit fittings to assemble leak-free on the first try. It is also an asset for after-sales service : parts are always available, handled directly by Univers Aquaponie in France.
📈 Growrilla 19 L bucket vs off-the-shelf opaque bucket
A standard black or white HDPE hydroponic bucket runs around 5 to 10 euros apiece but has three weaknesses : no guaranteed light-tightness with a single black wall (light gets in through the top, the rim, the fittings), no thermal insulation, and batch-to-batch geometry variations that complicate push-fit connections. The Growrilla bucket with its co-moulded double wall solves all three at once.
The price difference quickly pays for itself once you add up fewer cleaning cycles (algae avoided), summer thermal stability and the reliability of the hydraulic circuit.
