eSHa GDEX : the reference treatment against gill and skin flukes
eSHa GDEX targets a family of particularly tough aquarium parasites : flatworms (monogeneans), which attach either to the skin (Gyrodactylus) or to the gills (Dactylogyrus) of fish. It also acts against certain intestinal tapeworms (solitary worms).
🦠 Symptoms of infestation
Gill and skin flukes cause characteristic signs :
- Repeated rubbing against decor (flashing)
- Rapid breathing, swollen gills
- Excess mucus on the skin
- Small filaments visible on the skin or gills
- Weight loss and progressive apathy
- Mortality in juveniles if left untreated
These parasites are especially common in overcrowded tanks, those with insufficient filtration, or after introducing new fish that were not quarantined.
⚡ 5-day course
The eSHa GDEX protocol lasts 5 consecutive days, with a dose calculated according to the tank volume (100 drops = 3.2 ml). For massive or resistant infestations, the course can be extended to 12 days.
During the course, reduce feeding : no food on day 1, half a portion on day 2, then a gradual return over the following 3 days.
🛡️ Safety and compatibility
eSHa GDEX is compatible with aquatic plants and the biological filter. Compatibility with shrimp and snails is uncertain : as a precaution, remove them from the tank during the course.
For marine fish, treatment must be carried out in a quarantine tank. Compatible with eSHa 2000 and HEXAMITA with no dose reduction.
Remove carbon, UV and skimmer 24 hours before the first application.
