eSHa NDX : the levamisole dewormer for aquariums
eSHa NDX is a specific dewormer based on levamisole, an antiparasitic recognised in aquatic veterinary medicine. It targets the nematodes parasitising the digestive tract of fish : Camallanus (red worms protruding from the anus), Capillaria (thin intestinal worms) and Oxyuris (roundworms). It is one of the few consumer treatments effective against these tough parasites.
🦠 How levamisole works
Levamisole works by paralysing the muscles of the adult nematodes, which are then expelled alive by the fish and end up at the bottom of the tank. This is why a careful siphoning and a 50% water change are essential 24 h after application, to prevent the paralysed parasites from reactivating.
Levamisole acts only on the adult forms : it does not destroy the eggs. This is why a second application 14 days later is needed to target the new forms hatched after the first course.
⚡ Two-dose protocol
The eSHa NDX protocol is simple but must be followed to the letter :
- Day 1 : apply the dose calculated according to the tank volume
- Day 2 (24 h later): siphon the bottom and change 50% of the water
- Day 14 : repeat the same dose to eliminate the hatched eggs
- Day 15 : another siphoning + 50% water change
🛡️ Safety and compatibility
eSHa NDX is compatible with plants and the biological filter. However, compatibility with shrimp and snails is uncertain. As a precaution, move sensitive invertebrates to a separate tank during the course.
For marine fish, treatment must be carried out in a quarantine tank, never in the main reef tank.
Before each treatment, remove the activated carbon, resins, UV and skimmer which absorb the active ingredient.

🛠️ Practical guide
Setup : remove activated carbon, UV and skimmer. Check oxygenation. Do not feed on the day of application.
Typical use : 1 dose calculated according to the volume, wait 24 h, siphon the bottom carefully, change 50% of the water. Repeat exactly 14 days later.
Mistakes to avoid : do not forget the second dose (the eggs are not destroyed by the first), do not overdose, do not use on fish intended for consumption.
Aftercare : between the 2 doses, maintain good biological filtration and support immunity with eSHa OPTIMA.
