ARKA myAqua reverse osmosis system : ultra-pure water with no electricity or chemicals
The ARKA myAqua reverse osmosis (RO) system produces ultra-pure water, ideal for the freshwater aquarium, the reef tank and aquaponics. Relying solely on the mains water pressure, it removes up to 99% of salts, nitrates, phosphates, heavy metals and bacteria, with no electricity or additive.
Made by ARKA (Germany), this compact model comes in three flow rates - 190, 380 and 400 L/day - to suit the size of your setup.
💧 How reverse osmosis works
Tap water passes successively through a sediment filter, an activated carbon filter and then a reverse osmosis membrane. This membrane with microscopic pores blocks almost all dissolved salts and pollutants, letting through only pure water molecules. You obtain reverse osmosis (RO) water that is perfect for preparing the water of a reef tank, a sensitive freshwater aquarium or an aquaponic system.
💧 Which capacity to choose ?
- 190 L/day : compact 3-stage RO system, ideal for small and medium aquariums (efficiency ~1:3)
- 380 L/day : same compact format, more productive membrane for more sustained use
- 400 L/day : system on a stand with pump and integrated TDS meter, economical efficiency ~1:1 and high flow rate
The 190 and 380 share the same replacement cartridges; the 400 has its own filters and an integrated water quality control.
🪸 For the reef tank, freshwater and aquaponics
In the reef tank, RO water is essential to prepare a stable seawater free of nitrates/phosphates. In freshwater, it allows precise parameters to be recreated for demanding shrimp and fish. In aquaponics, it prevents the build-up of salts and pollutants from the mains. A universal solution to start from a perfectly controlled base water.
