The pack of 5 Growrilla lids covers the 19 L tanks of RDWC 2.0 and PRO systems, with a diameter of 30 cm. The solid version covers the controller pot and lets the pump cable pass through a hatch, while the version with a hole takes a 14 cm net pot. The white top reflects the light from the lamps, and the black underside protects the solution.

A 19 L tank closes with a 30 cm diameter lid that protects the solution from light. The pierced lid holds a growing pot basket, while the solid lid seals the control pot, where the pump is submerged.

🎯 Solid or pre-drilled

The pack contains 5 identical lids, all in the version you have chosen. The perforated lid takes a 14 cm basket and closes a grow pot around the collar of the plant; the solid lid closes the controller pot, and a small flap cut into the edge lets the pump cable or a heater cable pass through. Both versions fit the 19 L tanks of the 2.0 and PRO generations.

This interchangeability pays off whenever the system changes shape from one cycle to the next. You might go from 8 grow pots to 6, set two tanks aside out of season, or add a second dosing point on a large system: each time, you only change the lid, provided the tank has the drilled holes for its new role.

🧢 Two sides, two materials

The lid is moulded in black polypropylene, coated on its upper face with a layer of white PVC. The black face, turned towards your solution, keeps light from getting in, which deprives algae of what they need to proliferate. The white face, turned towards the lamps, reflects their radiation instead of absorbing it, so the solution heats up less under the lid. A badly fitted or missing lid lets light in, and a lit solution turns green; so put each lid back down flat after any intervention.

The 14 cm baskets for pre-drilled lids

Each drilled lid takes a 14 cm basket, the diameter its opening is designed for. A smaller basket would leave a gap through which light would reach the solution, whereas the right diameter closes the tank while holding the root ball above the water. Order them at the same time as your lids, in the same number, and keep one or two spare for the next cycle.

🔄 What damages them

Two actions wear out a perforated lid, and you do both at harvest time. The first is pulling on a basket whose roots have colonised the openings: the rim of the basket strains against that of the lid. The second is leaving a mature plant resting on the lid alone for weeks. So cut the roots flush with the base of the basket rather than pulling, and fix a stake to the rim of the tank as soon as the plant becomes heavy, so that the wall carries the load.

🧴 Cleaning them between cycles

Between two cycles, rinse the lids in clean water and scrub them with a soft brush, on both sides. Solution deposits dry on the black side and around the opening, where water splashes when you put a basket back in, and they come off more easily before they have hardened. Leave them to dry before storing them flat and away from light. On a circuit that you are opening anyway, it is also the moment to check the condition of the seals on the fittings you have taken apart.
