The collection mainly features lotus, sold as rhizomes or seeds, along with marginal plants to sow. Choose a lotus first by its mature size. Large plants such as High Cotton lotus rise 1.20 to 1.50 m above the water and need a pot of at least 20 L in the first season, then a 150 L container, under about 30 cm of water. Dwarf lotus, such as Huohua, grow no taller than 20 to 30 cm and are happy in a 10 to 20 L pot under 10 to 20 cm of water.

Rhizomes are shipped from 1 April to 15 June; an order placed outside this period is taken as a pre-order and ships at the start of the following season. Lotus seeds are scarified at one end, then soaked in water at 20 to 25 °C renewed every day. The hardy Gold Medal water lily is submerged under 20 to 60 cm of water and covers about 1 m². Osmocote tablets feed potted lotus and water lilies. The article Growing lotus in aquaponics explains their place in a system.
