Description

The Nymphaea caerulea traditionally calledblue lotus (but it is indeed a water lily), is an emblematic species of ancient Egypt. Growing this lotus from seed allows you to relive history and witness the gradual emergence of an elegant and rare bluish flower.

This packet of seeds allows you to start a small pond or to obtain several plants to transplant.

🌿 Germination & Care Tips

Germinating the seeds in a bottle or small aquarium filled with clear water, exposed to the light, at 20–22°C.
Once sprouted, transplant the young shoots into small plugs or into pots containing several topics in a mixture soil + sand (2/3 + 1/3), below less than 5 cm of water.
Always keep the set very well exposed to light.

Over the weeks, the young plants will establish themselves and then gain strength to produce a historic blue lotus, ideal for a small decorative pond or a water feature on a terra

FAQ

The lotus bears leaves and flowers above the water on stiff stems, and forms a large “watering can”-shaped receptacle after flowering. The water lily has floating leaves and its flowers rest on the surface. These are two different genera (Lotus = Nelumbonaceae / Water lily = Nymphaeaceae).

Flowering occurs in summer (from June to August depending on the climate). To encourage flowering and plant vigor, place the lotus in full sun and fertilize regularly during the season using a fertilizer or tablets specifically for aquatic plants. Cut off faded flowers and leaves as they appear.
