Sowing your own aquatic plants costs little and produces plenty of plants. Lotus seeds have a very hard coat: file it lightly, then soak the seed in lukewarm water so that it germinates within a few days. Blue water lily, papyrus, thalia and arrowhead are sown in waterlogged soil or under a thin layer of water, somewhere warm and bright.
Plants grown from seed generally flower from their second year. For flowers in the first season, choose a lotus rhizome.
