🌿 A spectacular and elegant aquatic plant
Thalia dealbata, also known as the Blue Thalia, is a highly decorative aquatic plant that instantly adds an exotic touch to a pond. Its large, bluish-green leaves on long stems give it a unique, architectural form. In summer, it produces stunning purple-violet flower spikes that sway above the water.
🌱 Simple sowing with a high success rate
Thalia dealbata seeds germinate easily if placed between two layers of damp paper towel or in damp cotton wool exposed to light. Once the seeds have sprouted, simply transplant them into individual pots filled with seed-starting mix, keeping the mix consistently moist and ensuring good sun exposure. Germination ideally occurs in spring, when the plant naturally awakens.
💧 Perfect for ponds and wetlands
Thalia dealbata thrives in very humid environments and can be grown at the edge of a pond, in shallow water, or in large containers that are constantly filled with water. Reaching a height of 1.5 to 2 meters, it structures aquatic spaces and creates a soft, tropical ambiance.
❄️ Rustic and durable down to -20°C
Despite its exotic appearance, Thalia dealbata is surprisingly hardy. Once mature and well established, it can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C, making it an ideal perennial for ponds in colder regions. It regrows vigorously every spring.
