The NAPS isn't designed to feed an entire family, and it doesn't claim to. It's something else entirely : a gateway to aquaponics, designed to be accessible, aesthetically pleasing, and educational. Within just 1 square meter of floor space, it creates a living, self-sustaining ecosystem where fish and plants nourish each other, fish waste fertilizes the plants, and the plants purify the water that returns to the fish. The clay pebble bed ensures biofiltration : this is where nitrifying bacteria colonize the substrate, transforming nitrogenous waste from the fish into nutrients directly available to the plants. The circulation pump with integrated fountain oxygenates the surface water and maintains flow between the pond and the grow bed. UV filtration completes the system by limiting algae growth and maintaining clear, healthy water for both the fish and the observing gardener. None of these elements are superfluous, and their combined operation guarantees a stable balance once the system is stabilized, which typically takes 3 to 4 weeks after initial setup.
🌿 What you can grow with NAPS
The 1 m² growing area of the NAPS is reserved for light species that don't require much root space : aromatic herbs (basil, parsley, chives, mint), leafy salads, young spinach, and small decorative green plants. Don't expect a bountiful harvest every week ; that's not the kit's aim. Rather, it provides a regular supply of fresh leaves, which you grow yourself in a living system. For families with children, it's also a fantastic educational tool : observing the growth of a lettuce whose roots are submerged in the fish tank water is a live biology lesson, far more effective than any book.

With very low electricity consumption, estimated at around €20 per year, the NAPS is designed for longevity without impacting your energy bill. Maintenance is deliberately minimal : no watering, no weeding, no fertilizer to measure. At the end of the season or when changing crops, simply cleaning the growing tray and rinsing the clay pebbles is all it takes to get things off to a good start. Assembly and disassembly are entirely tool-free ; the structure is held together by interlocking parts, which also facilitates moving or winter storage if you install it outdoors.
