EHEIM replacement UV-C bulb for Clear UVC, 7 to 60 W
This replacement UV-C tube fits the Clear UVC pond clarifiers, in seven power ratings from 7 to 60 W. It should be replaced after 8,000 hours of use, and the power rating to order is shown on your unit's housing.
The summary
- What you receive: a replacement UV-C tube, in one of seven power ratings from 7 to 60 W.
- When to change it: after 8,000 hours of service, before the water turns green again.
- How to choose: the power rating is read from the clarifier's housing, never from the volume of the pond.
- What you need to know: handle the glass with a soft cloth, and take the used tube to a recycling centre.
Germicidal tube for Clear UVC pond clarifiers, to be replaced after 8,000 hours
This replacement UV-C tube is the only wear part of a Clear UVC pond clarifier. It produces the radiation that stops suspended algae from multiplying, and it wears out while the rest of the unit stays intact. Seven wattages cover the seven models in the range, from 7 to 60 W, and you order the one that matches the unit sitting at the edge of your pond or mounted on your filter.
🔦 What the tube emits
The tube lights up inside a glass sleeve, around which the water circulates continuously. The UV-C radiation passes through this glass and breaks the DNA of the cells passing in front of it, so that single-celled algae can no longer divide. This is the mechanism that clears the green water in your pond, and it is also the first thing to weaken. After 8,000 hours of service, the germicidal output drops sharply even though the tube still lights up normally. You should therefore replace the tube when it reaches its service life, never when it goes out. The guide on green pond water places this replacement among the other ways of getting clear water.
🎯 Which power for which model
Clear UVC-7 and UVC-9
The 7 W and 9 W tubes are fitted in the two smallest housings, designed for 7,000 and 10,000 litres of pond without fish.
Clear UVC-11 and UVC-18
The 11 and 18 W tubes cover 15,000 and 20,000 litres without fish, and 3,800 and 5,000 litres when koi are in the pond.
Clear UVC-24 and UVC-36
The 24 and 36 W tubes fit the long housings, designed for 26,000 and 36,000 litres of pond without fish.
Clear UVC-60
The 60 W tube is the most powerful in the range. It is fitted to the unit designed for 60,000 litres without fish and 15,000 litres with koi.
The clarifier that takes this tube
If you are equipping a new pond, the 7 to 60 W pond UV steriliser is the one these seven tubes are designed for, model by model. You choose the wattage according to the pond's volume and what lives in it, from 7 W for a small pond to 60 W for a large body of water, and its replacement tube is then ordered in the same wattage, after 8,000 hours of service.
🧩 The LOOP and LOOPpro filters
Pond filters with an integrated clarifier also take these tubes, since their ultraviolet unit is a Clear UVC. On a LOOP pond filter, the 5000 model takes the 7 W tube and the 7000 model the 9 W one, while the 10000 and 15000 models share the 11 W tube. On a LOOPpro pond filter, the wattage follows the size of the tank: 9 W on the 6000, 11 W on the 8000 and 18 W on the 12000, then 24, 36 and 60 W on the three largest models. In every case, the number that follows "Clear UVC" on the clarifier housing gives the wattage to order, which saves you from searching for the kit reference.
❄️ The tube during winter
A pond clarifier does not run all year round, since the unit is put away frost-free as soon as the cold season arrives. The tube does not wear out during this shutdown, so it is at the spring restart that you judge its condition, at the very moment when suspended algae start growing again. The pond algae guide describes this period. If your pond also supplies grow beds, keep in mind that the clarifier only acts on the water that passes through it: its winter shutdown does not affect the bacteria of the nitrogen cycle, which are attached to the filter media.
