🐛 How does this worm composter work ?
This 2-tray worm composter uses earthworms to transform your organic waste into an ultra-rich natural fertilizer : vermicompost. The trays are stacked, and the system's logic is simple :
- You add your waste at the top.
- The worms naturally migrate towards new, fresh material.
- the bottom tray contains the mature vermicompost and the “worm tea” which can be collected via a tap.
This operation without thermal composting works gently, without strong odors, and allows the worm composter to be used both indoors and outdoors.
🏡 Designed for the home or garden
The Worm Café 2-tray model is designed for a household of 1 to 4 people, with a composting capacity of approximately 40 L. It is sufficient to recycle the majority of kitchen waste (peelings, coffee grounds, leaves, crushed eggshells, etc.) and some of the green waste from the garden.
Its location is flexible : kitchen, pantry, cellar, garage, or on a balcony/veranda sheltered from the heat. It integrates easily into an urban vegetable garden, an indoor jungle, or a bio-waste circuit linked to an aquaponic greenhouse.
🌱 Worm compost and worm tea for your crops
Thanks to this worm composter, you obtain two valuable resources :
- vermicompost (solid fertilizer) : similar to a rich potting soil, ideal for soil amendment, repotting plants, mounds, or even growing substrates in aquaponics.
- Worm tea (vermi-tea) : a natural liquid fertilizer, to be diluted, for watering plants, vegetables, aromatic herbs or houseplants.
Fertilizer from vermicomposting is rich in nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, which improves soil structure, increases its water retention capacity and promotes substrate biodiversity.
🌿 Suitable for permaculture and aquaponics
In permaculture, the worm composter allows for the closed-loop recycling of a large portion of organic waste, reducing garbage and dependence on chemical fertilizers. It naturally fits into a virtuous cycle between consumption, sustainable food, and waste management.
In a home aquaponics project or mini garden greenhouse, vermicompost can be used as an amendment for finishing plants, flowers or seasonal vegetables, while worm tea feeds your crops in addition to the system's natural nutritional input.
🧱 Simple, robust and modular design
The worm composter is designed with stackable trays, a leachate collection tray, and a tap for collecting worm tea. The trays have micro-perforations that promote aeration and prevent worms from escaping, while ensuring a good seal between levels.
The system is modular : if your waste production increases, you can add extra trays, making the tool scalable according to the size of your household or vegetable garden project.
