Secure your installations for the long term
Whether you are setting up a vegetable garden, a complex irrigation system, or a weed-control ground cover, the quality of anchoring is decisive. Weather, gusts of wind, and simple soil settling will eventually shift poorly secured installations.
Flandria fixing stakes were specifically developed to meet the requirements of landscapers and horticulturists. Unlike brittle plastic fasteners, these steel staples provide a permanent, discreet, and absolutely reliable anchor for all your outdoor work.
The choice of 3 mm diameter
The main flaw of standard market staples is their thinness, often 2 mm, which causes them to bend as soon as they meet a small root. Flandria has chosen a rigid steel wire with a 3 mm diameter.
This section contains 50% more steel than economical models, ensuring excellent structural rigidity. The stake does not buckle or deform under hammer blows when inserted into soft to moderately compact soils.
Anti-corrosion galvanisation treatment
A stake buried in the ground is permanently exposed to moisture and micro-organisms. To prevent metal degradation, these staples have undergone full galvanisation.
This metallurgical process deposits a thin protective zinc layer on the steel, creating an effective barrier against oxidation and rust. Your fasteners retain their mechanical properties for many years.
U-shape geometry and versatility
The staple design provides a 170 mm penetration length to reach denser soil layers, combined with a flat 35 mm crown. This geometry is highly versatile:
- Agro-textiles : keeps mulch mats, geotextiles, tarpaulins, and artificial turf firmly against the ground.
- Hydraulics & electrical : the 35 mm width fits neatly over irrigation pipes (16 or 20 mm) and outdoor cables without pinching them or obstructing water flow.
Guide and tips
Recommended tools : always use a rubber mallet or a light hammer. Avoid heavy sledgehammers, which could damage the galvanised coating.
Anchoring density for sheets : place one stake every linear metre around the perimeter. At overlaps, or in windy locations, increase the density to one staple every 50 cm.
Tip for very hard soils : if your ground is extremely dry, clay-heavy, or stony, do not force the steel. Use a pointed metal rod to make a pilot hole, then insert the staple without effort.
