CANNABOOST Accelerator by CANNA is a fruiting stimulator that activates the metabolism and photosynthesis of fruiting vegetables from the moment the flowers appear. It aims for heavier fruit, more even ripening and better flavour, at 20 ml per 10 litres of water, as a watering, in drip irrigation or as a spray.

The summary

  • What it is: a fruiting-stimulating additive, to be used alongside your usual feeding.
  • The quantities: 20 ml per 10 litres on average, up to 40 ml depending on conditions.
  • The timing: from the first flowers until the end of the harvest.
  • With fish: for neighbouring soilless crops, never in the fish water.

Heavier fruit and more even ripening on fruiting vegetables

CANNA CANNABOOST Accelerator is a fruiting additive, not a fertiliser, for tomatoes, peppers and strawberries. It is dosed at 20 ml per 10 litres, up to 40 ml, from the first flowers, together with the flowering fertiliser and PK 13/14. The solution keeps for 4 days. The pond of an aquaponic system must never receive it.

When a tomato or pepper plant moves into fruiting, it has to produce a lot of sugars to fill its fruit, and its photosynthesis sets the limit. CANNABOOST Accelerator is an additive designed for this phase: it stimulates the plant's metabolism and increases its photosynthesis, which speeds up fruit formation. Add it to the irrigation water or the nutrient solution from the first flowers, in potting compost, in coco fibre or in hydroponics, and continue until harvest.

It is not a fertiliser: it contains natural flowering stimulants and regulators, and is added to your usual nutrition, such as Terra Flores in compost or Aqua Flores in hydroponics, without replacing it. The aim is twofold. On one hand, heavier fruit, more even ripening and a more regular harvest; on the other, a sweeter, more aromatic flavour, linked to a higher content of sugars and essential oils. Better energy management also makes the plant more resistant to disease at the point when it is exhausting itself bearing fruit.

CANNABOOST is used on all vegetables that flower before producing: tomatoes, peppers, chillies, aubergines, strawberries, cucumbers and courgettes. Cherry tomatoes, which flower and ripen over a long period, benefit from it all season. Lettuces and herbs, harvested for their leaves before flowering, have no use for it.

🍅 Dose and duration of applications

The average dose is 20 ml per 10 litres of water, a 1:500 dilution, and it can be raised to 40 ml per 10 litres depending on growing conditions. The range's feeding schedule introduces it from the stage before flower formation, at 20 ml, then keeps it between 20 and 40 ml throughout flowering and fruiting, ripening included. On tomatoes, the published schedule calls for 20 ml per 10 litres from the appearance of the first flowering trusses, and this dose stays the same for about 21 weeks of production.

Medium dose

20 ml per 10 litres of water, or 1/500, from the moment the first flowers form.

High dose

Up to 40 ml per 10 litres, i.e. 1/250, depending on growing conditions.

As a spray

The same solution can be sprayed onto the foliage, as a supplement to or instead of watering.

Monitoring conductivity when inputs add up

In full production, a tomato's solution receives its flowering fertiliser, a phosphorus and potassium supplement and CANNABOOST all at once, and its total conductivity reaches 2.2 mS/cm in the tomato schedule. A pH and conductivity tester lets you check, with every batch you prepare, that the mix stays within the intended target. You then adjust the base fertiliser rather than the additive, whose dose stays modest.

Never with hydrogen peroxide

CANNABOOST Accelerator must not be combined with a hydrogen peroxide-based product, sometimes used to disinfect a sump tank. If you disinfect your tank, rinse it before preparing the solution. Keep the bottle closed, in a dark place, protected from frost and out of reach of children.

The additive suits all grow media and all watering systems: watering can, drip irrigation, coco coir growing or hydroponics. The prepared solution, fertiliser included, should be used within 4 days, so only make up the amount needed for a few waterings. Measure the dose with a graduated measuring cup rather than the bottle cap, since 20 ml for 10 litres is barely 2 ml per litre. When foliar spraying, aim at both sides of the leaves, ideally as the light fades, so that your plants benefit from the solution before it dries.

🌸 From flower to fruit

A fruiting additive only works on pollinated flowers. Outdoors, wind and pollinating insects take care of this, but a tomato or pepper grown indoors or in a closed greenhouse needs help with pollination: a few gentle shakes of the stem or a pass of a brush over the open flowers is enough to release the pollen. The article on pollinating your plants indoors details these techniques, which then allow your feeding to fill well-set fruit.

🐟 The fruits of an aquaponic system

CANNABOOST Accelerator is designed for watering and hydroponics: it must not be poured into the tank or into a grow bed connected to the circuit. Within the system, fruiting in tomatoes and peppers depends first of all on two elements. Potassium is the limiting one and is topped up with a product designed for fish water, such as Aquaponic Mix fertiliser or potassium bicarbonate. Next comes calcium, whose shortage shows up as blossom end rot, a dark patch that spreads across the tip of the tomatoes.

The additive does, however, keep its place alongside the system. The fruiting vegetables you grow in pots, in bags of coco fibre or in a separate hydroponic bed receive it just as they would in any soilless culture. In a decoupled set-up, where the plant loop is separate from the fish loop and receives its own nutrition, it can also join the plants' solution, without ever touching the water the fish live in.

📦 From bottle to drum

CANNABOOST Accelerator comes in 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre bottles, and in 5 and 10 litre containers. At the medium dose of 20 ml per 10 litres, the 250 ml bottle treats 125 litres of solution, enough to support a few potted tomato plants over several weeks of production; at the high dose of 40 ml, it treats half as much. The 500 ml and 1 litre sizes suit a small greenhouse of fruiting vegetables, and the containers suit larger crops. The polyethylene bottle can be recycled with plastic packaging.
