Yu Tang Jin Ma produces round foliage 10 to 15 cm in diameter with well-proportioned leaves. Flowering occurs during the summer, primarily from June to August, under full sun exposure. Hardy and vigorous, this miniature lotus tolerates climatic variations well and can be grown outdoors or in controlled aquaponic environments.

Growing this mini-lotus is simple and accessible, even for beginners. The rhizome should be planted in heavy, clay-rich substrate to ensure proper anchorage and stable nutrition. A water depth of 10 to 20 cm is sufficient for this compact variety. Full sun is essential for abundant flowering, but the plant can also thrive in an indoor aquaponic system if provided with strong light.
In a traditional pond, aquatic plant fertilizer can be applied at the start of the season. In aquaponics, nutrients produced naturally by fish and bacteria supply the lotus. Regular removal of faded leaves and flowers is recommended to stimulate new growth.
