This is as much a trial format as a short-run format. The spongy texture holds moisture and air together around the radicle, which is exactly what a seed needs, and it cushions temperature fluctuations around the young roots. The cubes are enriched with a formulation designed to encourage rooting from the very first days. Under a dome propagator tray, they perform at their best.
🛁 From cube to the next pot
The cube is repotted whole and must never be broken open: simply place it in a pot of compost, a planting basket, or directly in the ground, and the roots will continue growing through the fibre. At the end of the crop cycle, the plug breaks down in the soil and returns its organic matter to it. This is also why it is unsuitable for a closed water circuit, where decomposing fibre will gradually load the nutrient solution you are managing.
A dome over the 24 cubes, a mat underneath
Keep these cubes under the lid of a propagator tray with dome. When the room is cold, a heat mat slid underneath provides additional warmth. Once the seed's own reserves are exhausted, a complete fertiliser takes over.
The tray you leave to dry out
A tray left near a radiator for a few days will lose its moisture, and a dry cube no longer performs its function. The remedy is straightforward: a simple soak will reactivate it and restore its flexibility. Keep the tray away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and reseal the packaging over any cubes you do not sow straight away.
