Submersible water pump 1,350 to 3,500 L/h, adjustable flow
This submersible water pump circulates from 1,350 to 3,500 litres per hour depending on the model, with a flow rate adjustable on the front. It feeds hydroponic gutters, a grow bed or the water lift of an aquaponic system, and can also run out of the water, fitted in line.
The summary
- What you receive: a Sicce Syncra Silent submersible pump with its prefilter, suction cups and two pipe fittings.
- Four models: 1,350 L/h up to 1.8 m, 2,700 L/h up to 3 m, 2,500 or 3,500 L/h up to 3.7 m.
- Submersible or inline: the pump works at the bottom of the reservoir or out of the water, connected via its intake.
- Power consumption: from 0.55 kWh per day for the 23 W model to 1.92 kWh for the 80 W one, running continuously.
- For a small tank: below 1,000 L/h, the 600 L/h submersible pump is better proportioned.

Adjustable submersible pump for gutters, grow beds and aquaponic water lift
Most soilless growing systems rely on continuous circulation: the nutrient solution leaves the reservoir, passes through the gutters or grow beds, then returns to it by gravity. This submersible water pump handles that run with a flow rate of 1,350 to 3,500 litres per hour depending on the model chosen. It sits at the bottom of your reservoir or pond, and its flow can be adjusted without tools to suit the circuit. The same family of pumps fits the hydroponic gutter kits for 10 to 80 plants, where the 1,350 L/h model supplies 40 plants and the 2,700 L/h one supplies 80.
⚙️ An adjustable synchronous motor
The motor is synchronous: its rotor, fitted with a magnet, turns at the frequency of the mains current, which gives it a steady running speed for a power of 23 to 80 W depending on the model. The motor body is entirely encapsulated in resin, so you can leave the pump submerged permanently. A thermal cut-out stops it if it overheats, and the rotor shaft is ceramic on the three largest models. On the front, a regulator fitted to the intake pre-chamber lets you reduce the flow to spare a small network, without changing the pump. Finally, double-height suction cups hold it to the bottom of the tank and limit the transmission of vibrations.
📏 Flow rate and delivery head
The flow rate stated for each model is without any discharge head, that is, when the water comes out at the level of the pump. As soon as the water has to rise to gutters or a growing bed, the flow rate drops, until it reaches zero at the maximum head: 1.8 m for the 1,350 L/h model, 3 m for the 2,700 L/h model and 3.7 m for the two most powerful ones. Choose a model whose maximum head is well above the height of your installation, so that a useful flow remains at the top of the circuit. The 2,500 L/h model illustrates this compromise, as it delivers slightly less than the 2,700 L/h one while keeping pressure up to 3.7 m, which makes it suited to multi-level installations.
1,350 L/h, up to 1.8 m
This model feeds gutters or a grow bed set at a low height above the reservoir, with a power rating of 23 W.
2,700 L/h, up to 3 m
This model doubles the flow rate for long runs of gutters or a large growing bed, with a power of 45 W.
2,500 L/h, up to 3.7 m
This model suits tall installations, on shelves or in tiers, where the water has to climb a large height difference. It draws 65 W.
3,500 L/h, up to 3.7 m
This model offers the highest flow rate in the range, for a large pond or several circuits running from the same reservoir. It draws 80 W.
For a small tank, the 600 L/h pump
If your system fits in a tank of a few tens of litres, an ebb-and-flow table or a hydroponic pot, the 600 L/h submersible water pump is better proportioned than this one. It uses 6.5 W, pushes water up to 0.8 m and is adjusted in the same way on the front panel. You thus keep a gentle circulation where a flow of more than 1,000 L/h would needlessly stir up the solution and cost more in electricity.
Keep the intake submerged, even when fitted in line
The rotor needs water to turn without damaging itself, even in an out-of-water setup: a pump that runs dry deteriorates quickly. Always keep the level of your reservoir above the intake and do not use the pump in water warmer than 35 °C. Plug it into a socket protected by a residual current device of 30 mA or less, and leave a loop in the cable lower than the socket, so that any water running down the cable drips onto the floor instead of reaching the socket.
🐟 Water circulation in aquaponics
In aquaponics, the pump circulates water from the fish pond to the grow beds, where nitrifying bacteria convert the ammonia from the waste into nitrates that your plants can absorb. A common rule of thumb is to pass at least once an hour the entire volume of the pond through the circuit. For a 1,000-litre pond with beds placed 1 m higher, the 1,350 L/h model works close to its limit, since its flow drops sharply at that height, whereas the 2,700 L/h model keeps a comfortable margin. It is best to place the pump in a calm area of the pond or in a sump, with its pre-filter in place so that it draws in neither waste nor fry. The guide to building your aquaponic system covers this sizing step by step.
🔧 Inline fitting and maintenance
For an out-of-water installation, the pump is placed in line, below the level of the tank, so that water reaches the inlet by itself. You remove the flow regulator, screw one fitting onto the inlet and another onto the outlet, then push on the two pipes. The 2,500 and 3,500 L/h models accept a 25 to 32 mm pipe on the inlet, wider than on the outlet, which reduces head loss. For maintenance, unplug the pump, take out the pre-filter and the pre-chamber, then rinse the impeller in clean water while checking the condition of the O-ring. Regular rinsing, more often if the water is heavy with particles, preserves the original flow rate.
