19 mm dual-channel branch tee, flexible pipe
This dual-channel branch tee, known as a split tee, combines two separate passages within a single fitting. Water flows through one channel in one direction while circulating through the other in the opposite direction, making it ideal for connecting several pots to a shared reservoir in a closed circuit.
It is moulded in glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide, with barbed connectors of 20 and 25 mm.
The summary
- What you receive: 1 or 2 dual-channel 19 mm tee fittings, depending on the size chosen.
- The principle: two separate passages in a single fitting, one for the flow, one for the return.
- The connectors: barbed ends of 20 and 25 mm, for flexible pipe.
- The material: polyamide reinforced with 30% glass fibre, rigid and largely unaffected by heat.
Specialist dual-channel fitting for chaining hydroponic pots in a recirculating circuit
An ordinary tee mixes everything that passes through it. This split tee does the opposite, keeping two flows separate within a single body. Water passes through one channel in one direction whilst flowing through the other in the opposite direction. It is used to daisy-chain several hydroponic pots around a control reservoir, with each pot receiving the solution through one channel and returning it through the other, with a single pipe run between two pots.
Allow for bulkhead fittings with the tee
The tee connects to the pots via watertight bulkhead fittings. Before ordering, count one bulkhead fitting per pot and check the wall thickness, as the bulkhead gasket is chosen according to that thickness. The 18 x 22 mm black pipe completes the assembly between two pots.
Check the direction of each channel
The two channels are not interchangeable. A channel connected the wrong way round reverses the flow in one pot, which empties while its neighbour overflows. Before filling the circuit, mark the inlet and outlet with a marker pen on each tee, then run a trial with plain water, monitoring the level in each pot for an hour.
🔁 A fitting for a closed-loop circuit
In a linked-pot setup, such as the 4-pot kit connected to a shared reservoir, the solution leaves the reservoir, passes through each pot, and returns, keeping the level and concentration consistent throughout. A dual-channel fitting avoids running two parallel pipe networks, one for the supply and one for the return, saving both floor space and installation time.
Two channels
The outward and return flows pass through the same body without mixing.
Two diameters
Barbed fittings of 20 and 25 mm for flexible pipe.
Reinforced body
Glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide, rigid and stable.
Polyamide 6 loaded with 30% glass fibre is a technical plastic far more rigid than the polypropylene used in standard fittings. It holds its shape under the pressure of a tightly fitted pipe and withstands warm water without deforming. The fitting measures 93 mm in length, 83 mm in height, and 45 mm in width, and weighs 28 g, which is light for a component of this size.
Take a chain of 4 pots connected to a shared reservoir. You need a tee between each pot and the next, that is 3 tees for the chain, plus a fourth if you loop the last pot back to the reservoir. The 2-tee pack covers a small extension, and two 2-tee packs cover an open chain of 4 pots with one spare piece, or a closed loop.
🔧 Assembly
Cut the pipe cleanly and squarely, soak it for a few seconds in hot water, then push it firmly down to the bottom of the barbs. A 25 mm internal-diameter pipe fits directly onto the 25 mm spigot, and an 18 to 20 mm pipe onto the 20 mm spigot. A clip on each spigot secures the assembly behind a pump, and the soilless system maintenance guide details the leak checks to carry out each month.
🧩 A bespoke mounting component
This fitting is intended for linked-pot setups that you design or repair yourself. On an existing installation, you replace a split tee with the same model, which preserves the original pipe diameters and flow directions. For a simple branch, where the output of a pump is shared between two grow beds, the 20 mm barbed tee is the appropriate part.
