Nitrogen-free ripening fertiliser for the final days before harvest, in hydroponics and in soil
At the end of the flowering stage, a plant that is still receiving high levels of nitrogen keeps producing foliage and maintains very green tissue, even as its fruits and flowers are completing their ripening. This late-flowering fertiliser removes nitrogen from the solution while maintaining a supply of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and sulphur. Deprived of nitrogen, the plant draws on the reserves stored in its leaves, which gradually yellow, and it completes its cycle. Use it during the final 10 to 15 days, in place of your standard flowering fertiliser.
📅 Dose according to grow medium
The duration and dose depend on how much water your grow medium retains. In hydroponics on clay pebbles, where the solution is renewed quickly, allow around 10 days at 5 ml per litre. In hydroponics on coco fibre or perlite, plan for 12 to 13 days at the same dose; in soil, where residual nitrogen is depleted more slowly, allow 15 days at 4 ml per litre. Aim for an EC equal to or slightly higher than your flowering EC, 1.4 to 2.6 mS for growing media and 1.3 to 2.0 mS in soil, with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5, checked using a pH drop test kit.
Flush the grow medium before and after ripening
Fertiliser salts that have accumulated in the grow medium continue supplying nitrogen to the roots for several days. A 48-hour flush with rinsing solution, dosed at 1.5 to 3 ml per litre, clears the grow medium before the first application of this fertiliser, and again after the final application. This way, you begin the ripening phase with a clean grow medium and harvest plants free from fertiliser residues.
The full protocol unfolds in four stages. You begin by rinsing the grow medium for 48 hours, then apply this product for 10 to 15 days, until the leaves have turned distinctly yellow. A second 48-hour rinse follows, then comes the harvest, no sooner than 2 days after the last application of this product. The same product can also be used to speed up the end of a cycle when a pest attack, unfavourable weather or an upcoming holiday forces you to harvest earlier, or to bring late plants into line with the rest.
Use this fertiliser on its own, without any mixing
This fertiliser completely replaces the bloom nutrient solution and must not be mixed with any other product. Adding a bloom fertiliser, a booster, or a supplement to the reservoir reintroduces nitrogen or distorts conductivity, which negates the intended effect. It must never be used during the growth phase, as it contains no nitrogen.
🍅 Which plants benefit from it
It is intended for crops harvested at full maturity, in soil-free or container growing, tomatoes, peppers, chillies, strawberries and ornamental plants grown for their flowers. It can follow any bloom fertiliser, mineral or organic, for example after TriPart Bloom. Leafy vegetables, harvested before they flower, have no use for it. Wait 2 days after the last application before harvesting, and keep an eye on your plants, as the gradual yellowing of older leaves is an expected sign.
📦 Composition and storage
This orange-pink liquid contains phosphorus at 6% P2O5, potassium at 5% K2O, magnesium at 3% MgO and sulphur at 5% SO3, in the form of soluble phosphates and sulphates. Its pH before dilution is between 3 and 4, and its safety data sheet does not classify it as hazardous. It keeps for 5 years after opening, stored cool, dry and upright, away from aluminium. The 500 ml bottle makes up 100 litres of solution, which is sufficient for the end-of-cycle phase of a small hydroponic system.
