This liquid bloom fertiliser is added to irrigation water for growing in hydroponics on coco fibre, always alongside its growth counterpart. It supplies the phosphorus and magnesium the plant needs to flower and set fruit.

The summary

  • What it is: the flowering part of a two-bottle fertiliser programme for coco fibre hydroponics.
  • What it provides: the phosphorus, potassium and magnesium needed to form flowers and fruit.
  • Used with: never on its own — always alongside the grow formula from the same range.
  • How much: 3 ml per litre at peak flowering, with 1.5 ml of the grow formula.

Liquid bloom fertiliser for hydroponics on coco fibre, with its companion growth formula

This bottle is the bloom part of a two-part liquid fertiliser designed for hydroponics on coco coir. It delivers the phosphorus, potassium and magnesium the plant needs to form its flowers and then its fruit. It is never used alone: it is always added to the irrigation water together with the grow formula, from seedling to harvest, with only the ratio between the two changing throughout the cycle.

🌸 The moment to switch

Throughout the growth phase, this bottle remains the minority component in your watering solution. The balance shifts once the plant begins preparing to flower: the first buds appear in the leaf axils or in clusters at the tops of the stems, much like the first trusses on a tomato plant. At this point, you increase the proportion of flowering nutrient and reduce the growth nutrient, in two stages. This reversal follows the increased demand for phosphorus and potassium as flowers and fruit develop.

Growth

This bottle is unobtrusive, at 1 ml per litre compared to 2.5 ml for the growth version.

First buds

It goes up to 2 ml per litre, alongside 3 ml of the grow formula.

Full flowering

It becomes the dominant solution, at 3 ml per litre compared with 1.5 ml for the growth version.

Last few days

A nitrogen-free fertiliser replaces it on its own, at 5 ml per litre, through to harvest.

Finishing the cycle with a nitrogen-free fertiliser

Once flowering is complete, the nitrogen-free end-of-flowering fertiliser replaces the two bottles for the final 12 to 13 days in coco fibre hydroponics. Deprived of nitrogen, the plant remobilises that stored in its leaves to finish ripening its fruit. This allows you to run the entire cycle with three bottles whose doses are designed to work together.

Never use it without the growth version

This bottle provides neither the calcium nor the bulk of the nitrogen the plant still needs during flowering: used on its own, it leads to deficiencies even though the solution appears rich. Always use it alongside the growth version, adding each one separately to the irrigation water. Shake before each use, store upright with the cap on, and keep out of reach of children, even though the concentrate is not classified as hazardous.

💧 A 20-litre reservoir

At full flowering, fill the reservoir with 20 litres of water, then add 30 ml of the grow version and stir. Next, add 60 ml of this bottle, stirring again, and never combine the two concentrates in the same measuring jug. Finally, adjust the pH to between 6.4 and 6.8, the range for pre-flowering and flowering. The conductivity, that is, the amount of fertiliser dissolved in the water, will then sit between 1.4 and 2.2 mS if you measure it with a tester. Check the pH with a drop test kit each time you mix a batch.

🍅 Tomatoes, peppers and strawberry plants

This bottle suits fruiting vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries, as well as all flowering plants grown in hydroponics on coco fibre, whether in pots or on flood-and-drain tables. Water until a little runs out from the bottom of the pot, to prevent salt build-up in the fibre. You can also add a flowering stimulator at 5 ml per litre, from the first buds through to ripening, without reducing the fertiliser dose.

📦 The bottle and how to store it

The product is available in 500 ml and 1 litre bottles, and in 5 and 10 litre containers, to be used alongside the same size of the growth version. At full flowering, at 3 ml per litre, the 1 litre bottle prepares approximately 330 litres of irrigation water. It keeps for 5 years after opening, stored upright and sealed. It is not suitable for organic farming.

Mineral fertiliser or organic fertiliser for flowering?

All three support flowering and fruiting. The first is controlled by conductivity on coco fibre; the two organic fertilisers work through the microbial life in the grow medium.

Mineral or organic for your flowers and fruit? One is adjusted with a conductivity meter on coco fibre; the other two feed the life within the grow medium first. Three questions distinguish between the three.
