Pump, filter modules and water jet combined in a unit that sits on the bottom of the pond
In a small garden pond, filtration and a fountain jet often require two units, two cables and two positions. The MODUL 4000 combines the two in a single unit placed on the bottom of the pond: a pump draws water through a row of filter modules, then sends it back up to the surface through a telescopic tube topped with a nozzle. You get clear water and a water feature with a single unit, whose flat shape and neutral colour make it almost invisible.
🧱 A pump and filter modules
The filter modules provide a very large intake surface. The water passes through their cartridges before reaching the wheel, so the particles stay trapped instead of circulating in the pond. Over time, these cartridges become coated with bacteria that break down the fish waste: the filtration becomes both mechanical and biological. The number of modules can be reduced or increased according to the size of the pond and its stocking, which lets you adapt the unit rather than replace it. Its height of 23 cm also allows it to sit in a shallow area.
The pump
It delivers up to 2,300 L/h for 38 W and pumps up to a height of 2.4 m.
The modules
They trap particles and house bacteria, over a very large intake surface.
The splitter
Its two-way valve splits the flow between the nozzle and a second adjustable outlet.
The cable
Its 10 m length lets you place the filter far from the socket, in the middle of the pond.
The recommended volume depends mainly on the fish. The filter is sufficient for a pond of 4,000 litres without fish, 2,000 litres with goldfish or ides, and 1,000 litres with koi, which produce far more waste. On a 1,500-litre pond stocked with about ten goldfish, the filter provides filtration and circulation without another pump. Beyond that, a pond filter with an external tank takes over.
⛲ Fountain, stream or clarifier
The telescopic tube rises above the surface and carries one of the three nozzles supplied, Dance, Bubble or Splash, each of which gives a different jet shape, from a fountain to a water bell. The second outlet of the splitter is adjusted separately: it feeds a stream, a small waterfall or a UV-C clarifier placed at the edge of the pond. You can thus set how much of the water jets upwards and how much goes to the other appliance, without affecting the filtration.
Seeding the modules as soon as the water goes in
New cartridges do not yet contain any bacteria, and a fresh filter lets ammonia through for several weeks. An activator such as Kido Filter Boost, added at start-up, establishes the colony that breaks down waste more quickly. The period during which ammonia remains dangerous to fish is shortened as a result.
🌱 In aquaponics
In a small aquaponic garden system built around a pond, the MODUL 4000 acts as both filter and circulation pump. Its modules trap the particles that would clog the roots, and its bacteria kick-start the nitrogen cycle, which converts the fish's ammonia into nitrate for the plants. The second outlet of the splitter can lift the water to a grow bed placed at the edge of the pond, from which it returns by gravity. Allow a margin on the height: your flow rate decreases as the grow bed is raised, until it drops to zero at 2.4 m.
📦 What's in the box
You receive the MODUL 4000 pond filter assembled, with its pump and filter modules, the telescopic tube and its two-way splitter. The box also contains the three water feature nozzles, a three-piece fitting set for connecting a pipe to the second outlet, the 10 m cable and the instruction leaflet. The filter has a 3-year guarantee. If you connect the second outlet to a stream or a clarifier, the EHEIM spiral pipe for ponds can be cut to the length you need.
