NFT growing channel 100 × 50 mm, 2 m long, no end caps
This NFT growing channel measures 2 m and its PVC profile is 100 by 50 mm. It is supplied with its removable pre-drilled lid and 4 cm net pots: 8 holes spaced 250 mm apart or 16 holes spaced 125 mm apart, sold in cartons of 16 channels.
It is supplied without end caps, making it the version to choose if you are fitting your own end stops or extending an existing installation. If you prefer a channel ready to install, the version with glued end caps is also available.

NFT channel 2 m long, 100 x 50 mm profile, supplied bare with its 4 cm pots
In an NFT system, a thin film of nutrient solution flows along the base of the channel, beneath the roots of plants sitting in their pots. This gutter is the 2 m channel with a 100 x 50 mm profile, supplied bare with its pre-drilled lid and 4 cm net pots, so you can fit your own end caps. It is sold in boxes of 16 channels, 32 m of growing space, and can be used to set up a run to your own design or to extend an existing system.
📦 What arrives in the box
Each channel you receive measures 2 m in length, made from food-grade PVC with a 2.5 mm wall and an internal height of 48 mm. The removable lid is pre-drilled at the factory, and each hole takes one of the 4 cm net pots supplied with the channel, one pot per slot. The lid lifts off and back on without any tools, giving you full access to the inside of the channel for brushing between crops.
Profil 100 x 50 mm
The profile is 100 mm wide and 50 mm tall, over 2 m in length.
Removable lid
It comes pre-drilled from the factory and fits without any tools.
4 cm pots included
The tray holds one net pot per hole, giving 8 or 16 per channel.
Made-to-measure length
The profile is cut to the required length before fitting the end pieces.
📏 Two densities to choose from
The lid is available with two hole spacings. At 250 mm centre to centre, it offers 8 positions across the 2 m length; at 125 mm, it offers 16. The first suits plants that are left to spread out, head lettuces or bushy basil, which need around twenty centimetres between each plant; the second is for young shoots and herbs harvested early. Since the holes are drilled at the factory, the density must be chosen before confirming the basket, and the box contains either 128 or 256 pots depending on the version.
Fit both ends before filling with water
This channel only holds water once both ends are fitted. Allow for a solid end cap on the inlet side and an outlet end cap on the return side, at each end of the run, and seal them with PVC adhesive or silicone. Then run plain water through before planting: any leak will show itself at that point and can be fixed while the channel is still empty.
Filling 32 metres of channel in one go
A box of 16 channels provides up to 256 planting spaces, and the plants that fill them are prepared separately, a few weeks in advance. Peat germination pods, sold in packs of 20 to 200, take a single seed in their central hole and slide whole into the pot as soon as the roots emerge. This way you start a complete batch of seedlings on the same day, with no compost and no root disturbance at transplanting.
🔧 Building a line
The same channel is also available as a ready-to-connect module with bonded end fittings, sold individually with 5 cm pots and 15 planting positions in its close-spaced version. The version without end fittings is useful when you already have your own, when you want to trim the channel before fitting the ends, or when a setup requires a large run all at once. The standard slope guideline is around 1 cm per metre, which works out to 2 cm across the length of one channel, and a single run should stay under about twelve metres so that plants at the far end still receive a complete nutrient solution.
📐 Supports and slope
Rest each channel on supports that are close enough together, because 2 m of channel loaded with mature plants will sag between supports that are too far apart, and even a slight hollow of a few millimetres will hold a pool of water that will turn green. For long-term crops, strawberries or herbs grown as bushes, the 80 mm deep channel offers more headroom beneath the lid. If the water comes from a fish pond, mechanical filtration upstream prevents suspended matter from clogging this low-profile channel.
