The summary

Calcium, iron and trace elements, RO water, rainwater or soft water version
TriPart Micro Soft Water is the part of the Terra Aquatica TriPart system that supplies calcium, iron and trace elements, in an NPK formula of 5-0-1. It is the former FloraMicro Soft Water from General Hydroponics, designed for water low in calcium: reverse osmosis water, rainwater, or tap water containing less than 70 mg of calcium per litre. Of the three bottles in the system, it is the one that draws the least attention yet can never be removed: Grow increases during the growth phase then fades out, Bloom does the opposite, while Micro remains at a high dose from seedling to harvest.
These elements are measured in milligrams per litre, but their absence is unforgiving. A solution without iron produces yellowing new leaves within eight to ten days. A solution without calcium produces tip necrosis on leaves and blossom end rot on tomatoes, with no sign of anything wrong in the conductivity reading. That is why a TriPart without its Micro cannot sustain a crop for a fortnight, regardless of how much Grow or Bloom is added alongside it.
The six trace elements, one by one
They're always listed together under the catch-all term "trace elements", without anyone explaining what each one actually does. Here are the six provided by this bottle, what they do in the plant, and the signs that reveal their absence.

Two useful points worth noting. Iron is the only element on this list supplied in chelated form: without this protection, it would precipitate out of a nutrient solution within a few hours and become unavailable to plants. And these six sets of symptoms look very similar to one another, they are easily confused. What distinguishes them is where they appear: on young leaves or on older ones. Why it comes in two versions
Calcium is the only nutrient that your tap water may already supply in useful quantities. Hard water contains enough to cover a good proportion of the requirement; reverse osmosis water contains virtually none. A single fertiliser would therefore be either too low in calcium for some growers or excessive for others. Hence two formulations, which differ primarily in their calcium nitrate content.
This version, freshwater
Calcium nitrate between 15 and 22.5 per cent. For water below 70 mg of calcium per litre, osmosis water and rainwater.
The hard water version
Calcium nitrate at 5 to 10 percent only. For water exceeding 70 mg of calcium per litre, the case for the majority of French mains supplies.
How to slice
Your water supplier's annual report gives the calcium content. A total hardness test from an aquatics shop works just as well.
Using the wrong version is not a disaster, but it does come at a cost
Using the soft water version with hard water adds calcium to water that already contains plenty: the solution becomes overloaded, the pH stabilises high, and iron becomes less available. Conversely, using the hard water version with reverse osmosis water leaves the plant with a calcium deficiency, with necrosis at the leaf tips. Neither situation will destroy a crop within a week, but neither can be corrected simply by adjusting the dose.
Working with reverse osmosis water or rainwater
Reverse osmosis water or rainwater is not neutral water, it is empty water, and that distinction changes everything about how you manage the reservoir. Empty of calcium and magnesium, which this version of Micro compensates for by supplying two to three times more calcium nitrate than the hard-water version. Empty of bicarbonates too, and this is the point nobody anticipates: bicarbonates act as a buffer and hold the pH steady. Without them, pH drops the moment the concentrates are added, then shifts at the slightest event, a plant absorbing nutrients, a rise in temperature, a top-up of water.
Three habits are all you need. Measure the conductivity of your source water: with reverse osmosis it is close to zero, which is actually convenient, since everything the meter reads afterwards comes solely from the fertiliser and nothing else. Adjust pH last, after adding all three parts, and usually upwards: with this type of water it is the pH+ adjuster you will need, not pH-, and in fractions of a millilitre. Finally, check pH every two days rather than once a week until you know how your setup drifts. A concentrate to handle with protective eyewear
H318, causes serious eye damage
This is the only one of the three bottles carrying a hazard warning. The concentrate has a very high nitrate content: any splash in the eye requires prolonged rinsing and medical attention. Wear safety glasses and gloves when measuring out doses, and rinse immediately with clean water if skin contact occurs. Once diluted in the reservoir at the recommended working doses, this risk disappears.
The one rule that matters at dosing can be summed up in a single sentence: each part is added to the water separately, never one into the other, rinsing the measure between each. The calcium in this bottle and the phosphorus in the Bloom, if brought into contact in concentrated form, produce an insoluble calcium phosphate that sinks to the bottom and becomes unavailable to anything. Diluted, they coexist without issue. The Starter Kit brings all three parts together in 500 ml so you can try the system.
How long does a bottle last
Calculated at the full-growth dose of 1.2 ml per litre: the bottle size divided by the dose, then the bottle price divided by the size and multiplied by 120 ml, the amount required for a 100-litre reservoir.

These are litres of prepared solution, not weeks of cultivation: a 50-litre tank topped up every fortnight uses around 100 litres per month, while a 200-litre system uses four times as much. The key point the table doesn't spell out on its own: of the three bottles, it's the Micro that runs out first. Grow takes a back seat during flowering and Bloom stays low during growth, whereas Micro is used at a high dose from seedling to harvest, between 1 and 2 ml per litre depending on the stage. Many growers buy all three in the same size and find themselves reordering the Micro alone twice as often as the others. The Starter Kit illustrates this clearly: its three 500 ml bottles don't run out at the same time.
One final point, often decisive: the iron in this Micro is chelated, and therefore protected from precipitation, but only within a limited pH range. Above pH 6.8, it gradually becomes unavailable and young leaves will pale even when the dose is correct. The formula 5-0-1 is the one printed on the bottle label. The calcium nitrate and ammonium nitrate contents, the H318 classification, the SVHC designation for boric acid, the pH of the concentrate and the appearance are taken from the manufacturer's French safety data sheet, version 9 dated 25 July 2024. The threshold of 70 mg of calcium per litre is corroborated by two independent retailer data sheets, but has not been found as such in any manufacturer document: treat it as a reference point. The breakdown of trace elements is not published, as the exact composition is presented as a trade secret. The relative density is not given in the safety data sheet for this version.
Grow, Micro, Bloom: what each one does in the TriPart system
The three bottles are not interchangeable, and none of them is used on its own. Micro is the one that never leaves the stage , and the only one available in two versions depending on your water.

The formulas are those printed on the labels. Dosages come from the official application chart, hydroponics and coco fibre column; for soil, allow approximately 15 per cent less. The Micro column applies to both versions, soft water and hard water: they carry the same label formula and the same dosages, and differ only in their calcium nitrate content , 15 to 22.5 per cent for soft water versus 5 to 10 per cent for hard water.
