🍃 The flake and the mouth
Flake size follows fish size, and that is what separates the two sizes of this product. The one sold here is aimed at fish of 8 to 20 cm, whereas the smaller size has a smaller flake, intended for fish of 3 to 10 cm that cannot manage a flake of this size. If your fish are under 8 cm, the feed for guppies, ProNovo Guppy Grano S, in a fine pellet, serves them best in this range. Give once or twice a day the amount they eat in a few minutes, and move to 3 or 4 small portions for growing juveniles.
🌿 The nitrogen released into the water
Part of the nitrogen supplied by this 38% protein is not retained by your fish: it is released into the water as ammonium, which the bacteria in the filter convert into nitrite and then into nitrate, which the plants then take up. An overly generous ration therefore increases the load the filter has to handle, especially in a recently set-up tank. The ammonium NH4 water test tells you whether this load exceeds the filter's capacity, and the nitrite NO2 water test whether the conversion of nitrite to nitrate is complete.
