Fertiliser kit for hydroponics on coco fibre, from growth to harvest
This kit contains the complete programme for a coco fibre hydroponic grow: a growth fertiliser NPK 4-0-5, a flowering fertiliser NPK 1-6-4, and a late-flowering fertiliser with no nitrogen NPK 0-6-5, each in a 500 ml bottle, together with a sachet of 25 g of powdered pH-.
The three fertilisers follow one another from the first roots through to harvest.
The summary
- What you receive: coco grow, bloom and late-bloom fertiliser in 500 ml, plus 25 g of pH- powder.
- The programme: the two coco fertilisers together throughout the full cycle, then the nitrogen-free fertiliser for the final 12 to 13 days.
- What it covers: approximately 200 litres of solution during the grow stage — enough to run a few pots or a small flood-and-drain table.
- Safety: the pH- and the grow fertiliser should be handled with gloves and eye protection.
Three 500 ml mineral fertilisers and a sachet of pH- for a complete cycle in coco fibre
This kit contains the complete programme for growing in coco fibre, from the first root to harvest. It brings together the coco growth fertiliser NPK 4-0-5, the coco bloom fertiliser NPK 1-6-4, and the nitrogen-free late-bloom fertiliser NPK 0-6-5, each in a 500 ml bottle, along with a 25 g sachet of powdered pH-. In a single box, you have the three fertilisers that follow one another through the growing cycle and the corrector that adjusts the solution. It is aimed at growers who are new to coco fibre growing, or who want to trial this programme before purchasing the larger formats.
Coco coir binds a proportion of the calcium in the solution, which is why a standard hydroponic fertiliser used in coco often causes deficiencies in young leaves. The two fertilisers in this programme compensate for this effect, the growth bottle with 5% calcium, and the flowering bottle with 3% magnesium and 5% sulphur. They are always added separately into the water, and only their ratio changes from one stage to the next. No additional calcium or magnesium supplement is therefore needed.
🥥 The programme stage by stage
At first roots, apply 0.5 ml per litre of each fertiliser, then 1 ml per litre at the first true leaves. During the growth stage, increase the growth bottle to 2.5 ml per litre with 1 ml of the flowering formula, then to 3 ml with 2 ml during pre-flowering. At the flowering stage, the ratio reverses, with 1.5 ml of growth to 3 ml of flowering. Conductivity ranges from 0.3 to 0.6 mS at the start up to 1.4 to 2.2 mS at flowering, and should be measured once the pH has been adjusted.
Taking over from the powdered pH- sachet
The 25 g sachet covers the first preparations of the cycle. After that, the liquid pH adjuster is dosed drop by drop, with no prior dissolving, which makes small corrections to a reservoir of a few tens of litres simpler than with the powder. Add it after the two coco fertilisers, since those modify the pH themselves, then measure after each addition to target 5.5 to 6.5 during growth and 6.4 to 6.8 during flowering.
During the final 12 to 13 days, both coco fertilisers give way to the end-of-bloom bottle, used on its own at 5 ml per litre. Deprived of nitrogen, the plant draws on the reserves held in its older leaves, which gradually yellow as the flowers and fruit complete their ripening. A 48-hour flush before and after this phase clears accumulated salts from the grow medium, and the flushing solution makes this process more effective. Harvest 2 days after the final feed.
Handle pH- powder with gloves and eye protection
pH- powder is urea phosphate, which forms a highly acidic solution when dissolved and can cause serious skin burns and eye damage. Wear gloves and eye protection, always dissolve the powder in a large volume of water, and rinse thoroughly if contact occurs. The growth bottle is also classified as hazardous to eyes. Keep the kit out of reach of children, in a dry place away from flammable materials.
Growth, 500 ml
NPK 4-0-5 with 5% calcium, from 0.5 to 3 ml per litre depending on the growth stage.
Floraison, 500 ml
NPK 1-6-4 with magnesium and sulphur, 0.5 to 3 ml per litre depending on the growth stage.
Late bloom, 500 ml
NPK 0-6-5 with no nitrogen, at 5 ml per litre during the last 12 to 13 days.
pH- powder, 25 g
1 g dissolved in 5 to 6 litres, added in small amounts until the target pH is reached.
📊 What the kit covers
At the growth dose of 2.5 ml per litre, the growth bottle prepares 200 litres of solution, and the bloom bottle prepares around 165 litres at 3 ml per litre. The late-bloom bottle covers 100 litres at 5 ml per litre, and the pH- sachet prepares 125 to 150 litres of acidified solution at 1 g per 5 to 6 litres, of which each correction uses only a portion. This is the quantity needed for a cycle across a few coco pots or a small flood table. For a larger growing area, each fertiliser is available separately in 1-litre bottles or 5-litre containers.
🍅 Suitable crops
The programme is suitable for all crops grown in coco fibre, pure or blended with perlite, in pots as well as in a flood table, with tap water as well as reverse osmosis water. Tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and flowering plants benefit most, since the programme supports flowering right through to maturity. It is not, however, suitable for organic farming, nor for the water of a system containing fish. If you grow organically, the organic fertiliser kit meets that need.
📦 The kit and how to store it
The box measures 23 x 16.9 x 7.7 cm and weighs 2.1 kg. The liquid fertilisers keep for 5 years after opening, stored upright and tightly sealed, and the pH- sachet also keeps for 5 years after opening, properly resealed, in a dry place and out of reach. The box works out cheaper than buying the three fertilisers separately, and lets you test the programme before investing in the larger formats.
