The nitrogen element of the TriPart trio, the one that drives the growth phase
TriPart Grow is the growth fertiliser in Terra Aquatica's TriPart system, a liquid mineral fertiliser with an NPK formula of 3-1-6, designed for the vegetative stage in hydroponics, coco fibre, and soil. It supplies nitrogen, which is present in every protein the plant produces, potassium, which regulates cell pressure and the movement of sugars, and magnesium. It was formerly known as FloraGro, created in California and now manufactured in Fleurance, in the Gers.
The imbalance in the formula is intentional. Phosphorus is almost absent because it comes from the Bloom; iron and calcium are absent entirely because they come from the Micro. Used alone in a reservoir, Grow produces an incomplete solution on which a plant will deteriorate within around a fortnight. This is the very principle of a three-part system: each bottle does one thing, and it is the ratio between them that supports the plant throughout its growth cycle. Three-part or an all-in-one fertiliser
An all-in-one fertiliser fits in a single bottle and applies the same compromise from seedling to harvest. It is formulated to never be entirely wrong, which means it is rarely quite right: too much nitrogen when the plant is filling its fruit, not enough when it is building its leaves. The three-part system does the opposite. During full vegetative growth, the ratio is 1.8 ml of Grow to 1.2 ml of Micro and 0.6 ml of Bloom per litre; at flowering, it shifts to 0.8, 1.6, and 2.4. The same plant receives two very different solutions without you changing product.
The drawback is real and worth knowing before you buy: three measurements instead of one, three rinses of the dosing equipment, and three bottles that do not empty at the same rate. If you mix a reservoir once a week and grow almost always the same crop, an all-in-one remains a perfectly reasonable choice. The three-part system comes into its own when you are running several crops in parallel, when you want to rein in a plant that is bolting into leaf, or when you buy in 5 L and the price per litre starts to matter. How the ratio changes
Growing
Grow leads at 1.8 ml per litre, accompanied by 1.2 ml of Micro and 0.6 ml of Bloom. Target conductivity of 1.3 to 1.8 mS.
In pre-flowering
All three converge around 1.5 to 2 ml per litre. The target pH rises from 5.5–6.5 to 6.4–6.8.
In bloom
Grow drops back to 0.8 ml per litre while Bloom rises to 2.4. Too much nitrogen at this stage pushes leaf growth at the expense of fruit.
In soil, the same stages are dosed around 15 per cent lower, because the soil itself retains and releases part of the nutrients: 1.5 ml per litre during full growth instead of 1.8. Never mix two concentrates together
Each part is added separately to the water, stirring between each one, and rinsing the measure before moving on to the next. Pouring Grow directly into Bloom, or reusing an unrinsed measure, causes salts to precipitate out and become unavailable to plants. The solution will look perfectly normal, and part of what you paid for will remain sitting at the bottom of the container.
pH decides before dosage
This is the number 1 cause of a crop that stagnates despite correct dosing. Between 5.5 and 6.5, the plant can access all elements; above 6.8, iron and manganese gradually become unavailable, and young leaves turn pale even though everything needed is present in the water. Adjust the pH last, after adding all three parts, using a pH- corrector. Our article on pH regulation explains the method in detail.
Recognising a nitrogen or potassium deficiency
Nitrogen deficiency
The lower leaves yellow uniformly, veins included, while the top of the plant stays green. Growth slows, stems become thinner and internodes lengthen. The yellowing moves upwards from the base, because the plant redirects its nitrogen towards new growth.
Potassium deficiency
The edges and tips of older leaves brown, dry out and curl downwards, leaving the centre of the blade green. Fruits develop poorly and ripen unevenly. Here too, the symptom starts on the oldest leaves.
This is the key point that's rarely mentioned: with a complete, correctly dosed solution, both symptoms almost always come from a pH outside its target range, not from a genuine deficiency. Nitrogen and potassium are plentiful in a TriPart reservoir; what makes them unavailable is water that's too alkaline or too acidic. Check the pH and conductivity before increasing the dose, otherwise you're loading the solution with salts without fixing anything. Where this product belongs, and where it is less suited
In hydroponics, coco fibre, and soil, TriPart Grow is right in its element. In aquaponics without fish, or on a decoupled loop where the plants receive their own nutrient solution, it works in exactly the same way. In a stocked pond, however, nutrition is approached differently: fish waste already supplies the nitrogen, and it is iron, potassium, and calcium that tend to be lacking. Aquaponic Mix is formulated for that situation, and DTPA chelated iron for correcting iron deficiency on its own.
Two things to know before you buy
This is not an organic farming input: TriPart belongs to the mineral range; the brand's organic range is Pro Organic. An old reference to a European regulation still appears in the application tables, but it refers to a repealed piece of legislation: we make no claims in that regard.
This is not a classified hazardous product: the current safety data sheet carries no hazard pictogram or warning statement. It does however contain ammonium nitrate, which means it must be kept away from combustible materials and out of reach of children.

Amounts rounded to the nearest penny, with totals calculated before rounding. A 100-litre reservoir therefore costs just over five euros during growth and just under seven euros during bloom, at the 1 L size. Moving up to the 5 L container brings the bill down by around 36 per cent at the same dose, and the gap widens further compared with the 500 ml bottle, which works out at 19.80 euros per litre versus 8.58 euros per litre for the 5 L, a ratio of more than two to one. During growth, it is this container that carries the most weight in the total; during bloom, it is the Bloom, while the Micro increases steadily from one stage to the next. In soil, subtract roughly 15 per cent from each line.
To get started without buying four separate products, the Starter Kit TriPart brings together all three parts in 500 ml along with a pH correction sachet. Each bottle can then be repurchased individually in whichever size suits you, and the price per litre drops significantly from 5 L upwards. Depending on what you are growing, the three bottles will not empty at the same rate: with leafy crops, this is the one that runs out first.

The NPK formula 3-1-6 is the one printed on the bottle label, visible on the manufacturer's official product image, and reproduced identically by two independent retailers. A third retailer shows 3-2-6 with 1.5 per cent P2O5: we use the label value and note the discrepancy. The pH, density, classification and ammonium nitrate content are taken from the manufacturer's French safety data sheet, version 8 dated 25 July 2024. The dosages and pH and conductivity ranges come from the official application chart. The breakdown of trace elements is not published by Terra Aquatica, who classifies it as a trade secret: we therefore do not provide it.
Grow, Micro, Bloom: what each one does in the TriPart system
The three bottles are not interchangeable, and none of them is used on its own. This table shows what each one contributes, when it takes the lead, and which one requires care.

The formulas are those printed on the bottle labels. The dosages are taken from the official application chart, hydroponics and coco fibre column; for soil, allow approximately 15 per cent less. The hazard statement for Micro is its H318 classification, serious eye damage, taken from the French safety data sheet version 9 dated 25 July 2024; Grow and Bloom are not classified as hazardous. The magnesium figure for Grow comes from a single source; Bloom contains 3 per cent MgO. Prices do not appear in this table: they are correct elsewhere on the page, in your currency.
