Water lilies cover part of the pond surface with floating leaves and flowers. This shade limits warming of the water and the spread of algae, and gives the fish shelter. Hardy water lilies overwinter at the bottom of the pond; tropical water lilies need warm water and must be brought into a frost-free place.
Choose the variety according to the water depth of your pond and the flower colour you want. Water lilies are shipped during the planting season. To feed pond plants, use suitable fertiliser tablets.
