Successful seed starting needs a clean medium, moisture and warmth. Rockwool cubes, peat pods, sponges and coco coir plugs hold the seed and then the young plant, and slip straight into a net pot afterwards. Propagators keep the humidity around the seedlings, and a heat mat speeds up germination of warmth-loving plants such as tomato, pepper or basil.
To multiply your plants, a hydroponic cloner roots cuttings in a mist of oxygenated water, without any medium. The guides Setting up an indoor seed starting area and Germination failure explain the method.
