This beneficial fungal powder, Trichoderma harzianum at 100 million spores per gram, colonises the root zone of your crops in soil, coco fibre, and hydroponics. The dosage is 0.1 g per litre of water or solution, and the application should be repeated every 6 to 8 weeks.
Classified as a microbial biostimulant, it is approved for use in organic farming.
The summary
- What you receive: a sachet of Trichoderma harzianum powder, at 100 million spores per gram.
- The dose: 0.1 g per litre of water or solution, i.e. 10 g per 100 litres.
- The frequency: one application every 6 to 8 weeks, in soil, coco coir or hydroponics.
- To avoid: fungicides and overly acidic solutions, which will destroy the fungus.
Beneficial fungus in powder form that colonises the root zone, in soil, on coco fibre and in hydroponics
Trichoderma is a microscopic soil fungus that establishes itself around the roots, where the plant releases sugars and organic acids. By occupying this space, it reduces the room available for unwanted fungi, and its presence is associated with a denser root system. This sachet contains a selected strain, Trichoderma harzianum T50, at 100 million colony-forming units per gram. Dilute it in your watering water or reservoir, where the spores germinate on contact with the roots.
🍄 A small dose, repeated
The standard dose is 0.1 g per litre, i.e. 10 g per 100 litres of water or nutrient solution. For established plants in soil or on coco coir, 10 g is sufficient for 150 to 200 litres of irrigation. The fungus persists for several weeks in a living grow medium, so you reapply every 6 to 8 weeks rather than at every watering. The 10 g sachet treats a 100-litre reservoir, while the 50 g sachet covers a full season on a small setup.
Pairing Trichoderma with a root stimulator
Trichoderma colonises existing roots, and finds more to work with when the plant has developed a well-established root system. The organic root stimulator accelerates this development during the 2 weeks following potting on or taking a cutting. Add both products to the same water, each at its own dose, stirring between additions. The result is a denser root system that the fungus then occupies on a lasting basis.
No fungicide while the fungus is becoming established
A fungicide destroys Trichoderma just as effectively as an unwanted fungus, and its safety data sheet declares it incompatible with fungicides and acids. Leave several weeks between a fungicide treatment and the application of the sachet. While the fungus is becoming established, reserve Silicate for foliar spraying rather than adding it to the same solution. Do not pour a concentrated pH corrector directly onto the powder either.
🌿 Soil, coco or hydroponics
In soil and coco coir, the grow medium gives the fungus the support and organic matter it needs directly, and you introduce it by watering or by dusting the powder onto a moist grow medium. In hydroponics, the roots sit in a solution with no grow medium, so a small biofilter is recommended. This consists of a 3 to 5 litre basket filled with clay pebbles and a little coco coir, placed beneath the water return, where the fungus establishes and multiplies.
A stirred solution
Trichoderma needs oxygen, and a solution kept moving by a pump or air stone suits it far better than stagnant water.
No concentrated acid
Acids are among its incompatibilities: correct the pH of the solution before adding the powder.
Moderate warmth
It does not tolerate prolonged temperatures above 30 °C, which applies to both the solution and the stored sachet.
📦 Seven packaging formats
TrikoLogic is available in 10, 25, and 50 g sachets, and in 250 g, 500 g, 1 kg, and 5 kg packs, all containing an odourless, off-white greenish powder. The 10 g sachet suits a domestic reservoir or a few pots; the 50 g sachet covers an ongoing crop over several months. At 0.1 g per litre, the 250 g tub treats 2,500 litres and the 1 kg tub treats 10,000 litres, making the larger formats suited to greenhouses and commercial operations. The powder keeps for 18 months from the date of manufacture, stored dry in a sealed sachet, ideally between 5 and 25 °C; the best-before date is printed on the back. Its safety data sheet does not classify it as hazardous.
