Hydroponics fertiliser and pH control pack, 3 x 1 L
This pack brings together the three mineral fertilisers for a complete crop in 1 L bottles: NovaMax Grow for growth, NovaMax Bloom for flowering and FinalPart for ripening, with 250 g of powdered pH down and a drop-based pH test.
You prepare and adjust your solution with the same parcel, in hydroponics, on coco fibre or in soil.
The summary
- In the box: NovaMax Grow, NovaMax Bloom and FinalPart in 1 L, 250 g of pH- powder and a 30 ml pH test.
- The principle: one complete fertiliser per phase, added on its own, except in pre-flowering, when the two NovaMax share the solution.
- What it covers: around 660 litres of solution in full growth and 400 litres in full flowering.
- Pack or 500 ml kit: the pack doubles each fertiliser and adds the pH test, for a reservoir of more than 40 litres.
- Adjusting the pH: around 500 readings with the test, and a correction mixed at 1 g of powder per 5 to 6 litres of water.
- Shipping: a single parcel of around 4.7 kg, dispatched from France in the original packaging.
Three 1-litre fertilisers, pH down and a pH test for a full season
This pack brings together what you need to run a soilless crop from the first root through to harvest: three mineral fertilisers in 1 litre bottles, a pH adjuster in powder form and a pH test in drops. It is intended for you if you already have a system in place, a reservoir of 40 to 80 litres or several pots, and you want simple nutrition that is easy to dose, without discovering when preparing the solution that you lack the means to correct it. All three fertilisers suit hydroponics, coco coir growing and soil, with lower doses in soil.
Both NovaMax fertilisers are formulated as a single part. Each bottle contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur and chelated trace elements, so it feeds the plant on its own throughout its stage. In a two- or three-part system, by contrast, the calcium is kept in a separate bottle, because it would precipitate with the phosphates and sulphates in concentrated form, which means each part has to be dosed one after the other. With this programme, you pour a single product into your reservoir, then correct the pH.
🌿 One fertiliser per growing phase
The programme follows the plant's development, and each of the three bottles takes over from the previous one. NovaMax Grow, with an NPK formula of 7-4-10, carries the vegetative phase, during which the plant builds its stems and leaves and needs mostly nitrogen. At the first flower buds, you combine Grow and Bloom at 1 ml per litre each for 1 to 2 weeks, then NovaMax Bloom, with an NPK formula of 4-8-7, takes over alone for flowering with more phosphorus and potassium. FinalPart finishes the cycle: deprived of nitrogen, the plant draws on the reserves in its leaves while the fruit and flowers complete their ripening.
First roots
You start at 0.3 ml of NovaMax Grow per litre, for a conductivity of 0.3 to 0.6 mS.
Full growth
The dose rises to 1.5 ml of Grow per litre, and the solution then reads 1.3 to 1.8 mS.
Established flowering
NovaMax Bloom is used on its own at 2.5 ml per litre, for a conductivity of 1.4 to 2.2 mS.
Ripening
FinalPart is used on its own at 5 ml per litre during the last 10 to 15 days.
Add a booster during flowering
NovaMax fertilisers cover the plant's mineral needs, and a concentrated seaweed bloom booster can be added from pre-flowering onwards without changing anything in the feeding schedule. It is dosed at 0.2 ml per litre until the end of ripening, which is 10 ml for a 50 litre reservoir. Add it after the fertiliser and before correcting the pH, as one more input to the same solution, which lets you try it on a crop without touching the NovaMax doses.
Two NovaMax oxidisers and one acid powder
Both NovaMax fertilisers cause serious eye damage, and they can make a fire worse because they contain oxidising nitrates. Once dissolved, the powdered pH- forms an acidic solution that burns the skin and eyes. Wear gloves and goggles when you measure out the dose, always add the powder to the water and never the other way round, and store the bottles away from any heat source. FinalPart is not classified as hazardous.
The pH should always be adjusted last, once the fertiliser has dissolved, because the fertiliser itself changes the value of the solution. Take a little water from the reservoir in a clean glass, add a few drops of the reagent and compare the resulting colour with the chart, in daylight. If the value is above the target range, add the correction solution in small amounts, measuring again between each addition. Aim for 5.5 to 6.5 during growth, then 6.4 to 6.8 in pre-flowering and flowering, ranges in which the mineral elements remain available to the roots.
🥄 Preparing the powdered pH-
The pH- in the pack is powdered urea phosphate, inert when dry and strongly acidic once dissolved. You never pour it as it is into the reservoir: first you dissolve 1 g of powder in 5 to 6 litres of water, then you use this solution to correct the pH of your plants' water. The 250 g in the pack therefore make 1,250 to 1,500 litres of acid solution, of which each correction uses only a part, a larger one the harder your tap water is. Kitchen scales accurate to the gram are enough for weighing, and the container should be closed again straight afterwards, because the powder absorbs moisture from the air and forms lumps that are difficult to weigh.
🔢 One season of peppers
Take three pepper plants in a 50-litre hydroponic tank, where you renew the solution every week. During 5 weeks of growth at 1.5 ml per litre, you pour in 75 ml of NovaMax Grow per week, i.e. 375 ml. Pre-flowering lasts 2 weeks at 1 ml of each NovaMax per litre, which amounts to 100 ml of each fertiliser. Next come 6 weeks of flowering at 2.5 ml of Bloom per litre, i.e. 750 ml, then 2 weeks of ripening at 5 ml of FinalPart per litre, i.e. 500 ml. Bloom is therefore the bottle used most, with 850 ml consumed out of 1 litre, while you have about 525 ml of Grow and half of the FinalPart left to start the next crop.
🐟 This pack and aquaponics
These mineral fertilisers must not be poured into the water of a pond stocked with fish. The powdered pH- contains urea, which turns into toxic ammonia in a coupled system, and the phosphorus it adds feeds algae. The pack does, however, have its place on a decoupled loop, where the plants receive their own nutrient solution, separate from the fish water. The pH test is useful in both circuits, with a higher target in aquaponics, 6.8 to 7.0, which looks after the plants, the fish and the nitrifying bacteria alike. To feed a system with fish directly, you should choose the Aquaponic Mix instead, formulated for that purpose.
📦 The parcel and storage
The parcel contains the three 1 litre bottles, the powdered pH-down and the 30 ml bottle of reagent with its colour chart, for a weight of about 4.7 kg. Liquid fertilisers keep for 5 years after opening, stored upright with the cap screwed tight, between 5 and 35 °C and out of direct sunlight, and you shake them before each measurement, as a deposit may form at the bottom. The pH-down is kept dry, tightly closed and out of reach of children, while the test reagent is stored away from light with its chart. When one bottle runs out before the others, you can buy it again on its own in 1 litre or in a 5 litre container, such as the NovaMax Bloom, which is the first to go on a crop of fruiting vegetables.
