Easy-Life AquaMaker tap water conditioner, 100 ml to 5 L
The Easy-Life AquaMaker makes tap water safe for fish: it neutralises chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals when filling or during a water change.
It comes in 5 sizes, from 100 ml to 5 L, and is dosed at 10 ml per 50 litres.
The summary

- The dose: 10 ml for 50 litres of water.
- What it neutralises: chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals.
- Who it is for: aquarium, pond and aquaponics.
Tap water made safe for your fish in a matter of seconds
Tap water is drinkable for humans, but not for fish. The chlorine and chloramine added by the mains supply to disinfect it attack their gills, and the traces of heavy metals left by the pipework weaken them. Easy-Life AquaMaker neutralises these three threats as soon as it touches the water. It also binds ammonia and nitrite, protects the mucous membranes and reduces stress in fish, without altering the pH, KH or GH. It is suitable for freshwater and seawater, garden ponds, plants, shrimp, snails and the filter's bacteria.
💧 The right dose
The basic dose is 10 ml per 50 litres. It is reduced to 5 ml when your water contains little chlorine or chloramine, and rises to 20 ml when it contains a lot. In the event of a spike, with 3 mg/L of nitrite or 1 mg/L of ammonia, it rises to 30 ml per 50 litres. Shake the bottle for about thirty seconds before dosing. Take a 300-litre tank in which you replace 100 litres: you measure out 60 ml, calculated on the total volume of the tank, and pour it into the fresh water before putting it back in.
Each water change is dosed on the total volume of the tank, so the size is chosen according to the volume of your aquarium and how often you change water. On a 100-litre aquarium refreshed every week, each change calls for 20 ml: the 100 ml bottle lasts 5 weeks, the 250 ml about 3 months, the 500 ml about 6 months and the 1 L bottle a whole year. The 5 L container, which treats 25,000 litres, is used to fill a garden pond or to condition the regular top-ups of an aquaponic system.
Half a dose above 30 °C
Warm water holds less oxygen. Above 30 °C, do not exceed half the normal dose. A slight sulphurous smell when you open the bottle is normal.
🌱 In aquaponics
An aquaponic system loses water every day through evaporation and plant transpiration, and each top-up brings chlorine into the circuit. AquaMaker then protects the fish and the nitrifying bacteria, which carry out the nitrogen cycle by converting ammonia into nitrate for your plants. It is also useful when starting up a system, before the first fish arrive. The guide to starting an aquaponic system properly describes this first filling in detail.
Seed the filter after the water conditioner
The conditioner makes new water safe, but it adds no nitrifying bacteria. The Easy-Life EasyStart starter bacteria seed the filter of a new aquarium or of an aquaponic system that is starting up, and they are used with the AquaMaker as soon as the tank is filled. You thus shorten the period during which ammonia and nitrite build up before the filter converts them.
