The Germiponie online course, designed by T'Air Eau, explains in French-language videos how an aquaponic system works, from the basics of the ecosystem through to water analysis and automation. It is open to beginners and can be followed at your own pace, on a smartphone or computer. It prepares you to build your own system with the Tairoponie course, which requires about 2 square metres.
Germiponie is an online course that gives you the keys to understanding an aquaponic system: how it works, how to read it, and how to improve it. It prepares you to make the right choices, whether you are starting from scratch or your system is already running, with the construction itself covered by the Tairoponie course.
🧠 Understand before you build
Many beginners get lost among contradictory tutorials, vague notions about the nitrogen cycle and confusion between the different types of systems. Germiponie puts these foundations back in order: you learn the main principles of aquaponics, you work out what is happening inside a system, and you understand what you are observing. It prepares you to get started, when the time comes, knowing what you are doing.

Videos explain the balance between fish, bacteria and plants, and the mechanisms that keep it going.

🌿 The cycle at the heart of the system
In an aquaponic system, the fish excrete ammonia, which bacteria convert into nitrite and then into nitrate, which the plants absorb as fertiliser. Without a well-established colony of bacteria, the system remains unstable, and understanding this cycle is the first of the basics. Tairoponie when you have the space
If you have around 2 square metres in the garden and want to move on to building, Tairoponie guides you step by step through building a complete aquaponic system. It adds a construction plan, a list of materials and 3 months of follow-up with weekly live sessions.
🪜 The first step of the journey
Germiponie opens a two-stage course, designed by T'Air Eau, a company based in Décines-Charpieu, near Lyon, which installs aquaponic ponds for private customers itself. Once you have learned the basics, you have the keys to build your own system, and the Tairoponie training course, from the same organisation, is the logical next step. If you would rather receive the equipment than gather it yourself, the buried aquaponics kit of 500 or 1,000 litres uses the same system, with its tanks, its air pump or pumps and its clay pebbles.
📱 Follow the course
The programme progresses from the simplest to the most technical, and you follow it at your own pace, from a smartphone or a computer. No experience is required, and the course accepts complete beginners. If you already have a system, it helps you analyse and adjust it, whatever its design. Your enrolment gives you access to the programme's videos, which are in French.
