Original connection nozzle for reeflexUV 350, 500 and 800 UV-C sterilisers
A UV-C steriliser is installed on the water circuit, most often at the filter outlet: the water passes through a chamber where an ultraviolet lamp destroys suspended algae and some of the germs. It must therefore be connected to the pipes watertight, at both the inlet and the outlet. On EHEIM's reeflexUV units, it is the connection ends that provide this link, and a cracked or lost end can be replaced without changing the unit. A fitting that leaks, even drip by drip, ends up soaking your cabinet and the nearby sockets.
🔩 The right nozzle for each model
Each EHEIM reeflexUV steriliser 350, 500 and 800 is supplied with two pairs of connectors, 12/16 mm and 16/22 mm, to suit the pipe of your filter. Spare parts follow a model-by-model logic: part number 7481148 fits the reeflexUV 350 (3721), while part number 7481168 fits the reeflexUV 500 and 800 (3722 and 3723), for a 16/22 mm pipe.

16/22 mm pipe
This pipe diameter matches the outlet of models 500 and 800.
The model of your steriliser is marked on its body and in its instruction leaflet: check it before ordering, as the two references are not interchangeable. If you have changed filter and the diameter of your pipes is no longer the same, the end fitting must match both the steriliser and the new pipe. If in doubt, compare it with the end fitting still in place on the other side of the unit.
Replace the UV-C lamp during the same dismantling
If your steriliser has been running for more than a year, plan on a spare UV-C lamp for reeflexUV along with the end fitting. A lamp will still switch on after 8,000 hours of use, but its useful output has dropped, and the water turns cloudy again without any visible sign of failure. As the circuit is already open for the end fitting, you replace both parts in a single job.
Never run the lamp dry
Always reconnect the steriliser once the water is circulating again: a UV-C lamp running without water heats up needlessly, and its light is dangerous to the eyes and skin.
Changing a tip is also a chance to inspect the rest of the unit: the quartz sleeve that protects the lamp, to be cleaned if it has become cloudy, and the body seals, to be lightly greased with a tube of petroleum jelly. A fouled sleeve lets less ultraviolet light through, and the effectiveness of your steriliser then drops without anything being visible from the outside.
🔧 Replacing a nozzle
Unplug the steriliser and let the lamp cool, then shut off the water supply with the filter taps or by pinching the pipes. Remove the pipe from the old end fitting, unscrew it, then clean the steriliser's thread with a small brush. Screw the new end fitting on by hand, squarely in line, refit the pipe, then reopen the water and check for leaks before plugging the lamp back in. Keep the old end fitting until the end of the job, so you can compare the two parts.
🌱 In aquaponics
In aquaponics, a UV-C steriliser should be used with discernment: it limits suspended algae and certain germs, but it does not reach the beneficial bacteria, which live attached to the filter media and not in the open water. Properly fitted at the filter outlet, it helps you keep the water clear in the fish tank.
