This liquid fertiliser is added to the irrigation water for growing in coco fibre hydroponics, always alongside its flowering version, from seedling to harvest. It supplies the nitrogen and calcium the plant needs to form its leaves, with no additional supplements required.

The summary

  • What it is: the base fertiliser for coco coir hydroponics, added directly to your nutrient water.
  • Used with: always used alongside its bloom counterpart, from seedling to harvest.
  • How much: 0.5 to 3 ml per litre depending on the plant's growth stage — the full feeding chart is in the FAQ.
  • Key habit: always check the pH of your water, which should sit between 5.5 and 6.5.

Liquid fertiliser for hydroponics on coco fibre, to be used alongside its bloom version

This liquid fertiliser feeds plants grown in coco coir hydroponics, from seedling through to harvest. It works as a pair with its bloom counterpart: add a measure of each bottle to your nutrient water, and the resulting mix provides the plant with everything it needs. This grow bottle delivers primarily nitrogen, which builds leaves and stems, along with calcium, a nutrient that coco coir tends to lock up. No additional supplements are needed alongside it.

🧪 Two bottles, a single watering

Certain minerals react with each other when concentrated: the calcium in this bottle would form a precipitate with the phosphates in the flowering formula if combined in the same bottle. Once diluted in water, they coexist without issue. The separation offers a second advantage, as you can vary the proportion of each bottle as the plant develops. During the growth stage, the grow formula dominates; at flowering, it is the other way around. You never change products, you simply change the doses.

💧 Preparing your watering solution

  1. Fill your watering can or reservoir with the desired amount of water.
  2. Shake the growth bottle, add the correct dose, and mix.
  3. Do the same with the flowering bottle, taking care never to combine the two concentrates in the same measuring jug.
  4. Measure the pH of the water and bring it to between 5.5 and 6.5 using a pH adjuster.
  5. Water until a little runs out from the bottom of the pot, which prevents salt build-up in the fibre.

Seedlings and cuttings

Allow 0.5 ml of each bottle per litre while the first roots are forming.

Young plants

Move to 1 ml of each bottle per litre as soon as the first true leaves appear.

Growth

Add 2.5 ml of grow and 1 ml of bloom per litre while the foliage is developing.

Flowering

The bloom version takes over, at 3 ml per litre against 1.5 ml of grow.

A pH test to get your first waterings right

Most difficulties beginners encounter stem from a poorly adjusted pH rather than a lack of fertiliser: outside the range of 5.5 to 6.5, the plant can no longer absorb the minerals present in the water correctly. A pH drop test kit gives you the answer in one minute, at every preparation. You then know whether the water is ready or whether it needs correcting before watering.

📏 Measuring the concentration

Conductivity, denoted EC and expressed in millisiemens (mS), indicates the amount of fertiliser dissolved in the water. A small electronic meter measures it in a matter of seconds. It should sit between 0.3 and 0.6 mS at first root formation, between 1.3 and 1.8 mS during growth, and rises to 2.2 mS at flowering. For your first crops, following the dosage table is sufficient; measuring conductivity becomes useful when you want to fine-tune the solution according to the vigour of your plants. Always take the reading last, once both bottles have been added and the pH adjusted.

Safety goggles when pouring the concentrate

The concentrate can cause serious injury if splashed into the eyes, and its nitrates can intensify a fire when in contact with combustible materials. Wear safety goggles when pouring it, and rinse thoroughly with water if it contacts your eyes. Store the bottle sealed, out of reach of children, away from heat, paper, and wood.

📦 Sizes and storage

The product is available in 500 ml and 1-litre bottles, and in 5- and 10-litre containers. Choose the same size for the flowering version, as the two are used up at a similar rate over the full growing cycle. During growth, at 2.5 ml per litre, the 1-litre bottle prepares 400 litres of irrigation water, forty 10-litre watering cans. It keeps for 5 years after opening, stored upright with the cap tightly closed. This programme is also suitable for pure coco fibre or coco mixed with perlite, whether in pots or on a flood-and-drain table.

Mineral fertiliser or organic fertiliser for growth?

All three feed the growth phase. The first is managed by conductivity on coco fibre; the two organic fertilisers work through the microbial life of the grow medium.

Not sure whether to go mineral or organic? One is measured to the tenth of a millisiemens; the others feed the grow medium before the plant. Three questions are enough to decide.
