Tomato and fruiting vegetable fertiliser pack, pH control
This pack feeds continuously fruiting plants, such as tomatoes, peppers or strawberries, with two 1 L fertilisers poured together from planting to harvest: PermaBloom NPK 1-2-5 and TriPart Micro for hard water. It adds a 1 L fulvic acid, 250 g of powdered pH down and a drop pH test.
It can be used in hydroponics, on coco fibre and in soil.
The summary
- In the parcel: PermaBloom, TriPart Micro for hard water and fulvic acid in 1 L, 250 g of powdered pH down and a pH test.
- Which plants it suits: tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and all crops that flower and produce for months on end.
- The principle: two fertilisers added together from planting to harvest, with no change of bottle between growth and flowering.
- Your water: the Micro in the pack is aimed at hard water, with more than 70 mg of calcium per litre.
- PermaBloom or TriPart: two fertilisers for fruiting vegetables, or three to fine-tune every stage of all crops.
- Shipping: a single parcel of about 4 kg, dispatched from France in the original packaging.
Two fertilisers for tomatoes and fruiting vegetables, with fulvic acid and pH control
This pack is designed for plants that flower and produce for months: tomatoes, peppers, chillies, aubergines, strawberries and cucumbers. It contains two 1-litre mineral fertilisers that together form a complete nutrient solution, a 1-litre bottle of liquid fulvic acid, 250 g of powdered pH- and a pH drop test. This means you can grow from planting to the final harvest with the same two bottles of fertiliser, in hydroponics, on coco fibre or in soil, and the rest of the pack is there to help you start your plants and keep the pH stable.
🍅 Two fertilisers instead of three
A standard three-part system alternates a growth fertiliser and a flowering fertiliser around a common base. This programme removes that alternation: PermaBloom, with an NPK of 1-2-5, replaces both phase fertilisers on its own, and it is paired with TriPart Micro hard water, with an NPK of 5-0-1, which supplies calcium, iron and trace elements. Since a tomato plant carries flowers, green fruit and ripe fruit all at the same time, it needs steady nutrition rather than two sharply separated phases, and this pair of bottles provides exactly that. PermaBloom also supplies magnesium and sulphur, and its potassium share, the highest of its three major elements, meets the needs of the developing fruit.
The TriPart Micro in the pack is the version designed for hard water, which contains more than 70 mg of calcium per litre, as is the case across most of the French supply network. Its calcium nitrate content is reduced to allow for the calcium your water already provides, so the solution stays balanced without excess. The value for your water is shown in the annual analysis published by your supplier, and a kettle coated in white scale gives a first clue. If you water with rainwater or reverse osmosis water, the soft water version of the Micro, sold separately, is a better match for your situation.
Add silicate up to the pre-flowering stage
On a long crop such as tomato, the silicate powder tops up the solution at 4 g per 10 litres, from the first true leaves until just before flowering. This mineral powder, based on potassium and calcium silicates, supplies silicon, and it is used alongside PermaBloom and TriPart Micro without changing their doses. Prepare it the day before: the powder soaks for 24 hours in a bucket of water, then only the filtrate goes into your reservoir, which avoids depositing clay in the pipes of the drip line.
🌱 Fulvic acid to get started
The third bottle is not a fertiliser but a biostimulant, suitable for organic farming, containing 22.4% fulvic acids. If you are starting from seeds, soak them for 6 to 8 hours in a few millilitres of undiluted product before sowing. You then add it to the nutrient solution at 2 ml per litre, from the first roots until pre-flowering, or as a watering every 2 weeks if you are growing in soil. In case of stress, after transplanting or a heatwave, a foliar spray of 3 to 5 ml per litre of water helps the plants recover.
Never pour one concentrate into the other
TriPart Micro causes serious eye damage, and powdered pH- forms, once dissolved, an acidic solution that burns the skin and eyes. Wear gloves and goggles while dosing, and always add the powder to the water, never the other way round. Never pour one concentrate into the other: PermaBloom and TriPart Micro go into the reservoir water separately, with the dosing cup rinsed in between. PermaBloom and fulvic acid are not classified as hazardous.
📈 Doses stage by stage
The two fertilisers progress together over the course of the crop, and the dose of TriPart Micro exceeds that of PermaBloom from the growth phase onwards, since it supplies the calcium that young tissues need. In hydroponics and on coco fibre, the dose of PermaBloom never exceeds 3 ml per litre, and that of the Micro peaks at 3.5 ml at the end of the crop. In soil, the doses are lower, with 1.5 ml of PermaBloom and 2.5 ml of Micro per litre during growth. After a pre-flowering stage at 2 ml of each, the growth doses are maintained during flowering, then increase slightly at the end of the crop, and you check the pH after each preparation.
First roots
You add 0.4 ml of each fertiliser per litre, for a conductivity of 0.3 to 0.6 mS.
First true leaves
The dose rises to 1 ml of each bottle per litre, once two pairs of true leaves have formed.
Growth and flowering
Add 2 ml of PermaBloom and 3 ml of TriPart Micro per litre, after a pre-flowering dose of 2 ml of each.
End of the growing cycle
The solution reaches 2.5 ml of PermaBloom and 3.5 ml of Micro, for 2.1 to 2.6 mS.
🐟 Tomatoes and aquaponics
In a coupled aquaponic system, the fish water supplies mainly nitrogen, whereas a tomato in full production demands plenty of potassium, calcium and iron. This pack should not, however, be poured into a stocked pond: the powdered pH- releases urea, which turns into ammonia, toxic to fish. It belongs on a decoupled loop, where you prepare a plant-specific solution from the system water. The pH test, on the other hand, is useful in both circuits, with a target of 6.8 to 7.0 on the fish side, and our guide to growing tomatoes in aquaponics covers how to manage the plants in that setting.
📦 How long the pack lasts
Take three tomato plants grown in coir, watered by drip irrigation from a reservoir that delivers 20 litres of solution a week. During 4 weeks of growth, you use 160 ml of PermaBloom and 240 ml of TriPart Micro, then 80 ml of each during 2 weeks of pre-flowering. The 10 weeks of flowering and harvest then require 400 ml and 600 ml. The Micro is therefore the first bottle to run out, with 920 ml used out of 1 litre, while you still have about 360 ml of PermaBloom and more than half of the fulvic acid, which is used up to pre-flowering.
The pack contains the three 1 litre bottles, the pH- powder and the 30 ml reagent with its chart. The two fertilisers keep for 5 years after opening, stored upright, with the cap screwed on and out of direct sunlight, and the fulvic acid for 2 years, between 5 and 30 °C. The pH- should be kept dry, tightly closed and out of the reach of children. When the Micro runs out, you can buy it on its own, as TriPart Micro hard water in 1 litre or 5 litre sizes, without changing the rest of the programme.
