Mineral flowering fertiliser in powder form, NPK 6-17-15
This mineral flowering powder, NPK 6-17-15, takes over from the growth formula from pre-flowering onwards and supplies the phosphorus and potassium that flowers and fruit need, with 7% calcium and 7% magnesium. It is dosed at 1.8 g per litre at full flowering.
It can be used in hydroponics, on coco fibre and in soil, up to ripening, 10 to 15 days before harvest.
The summary
- In the parcel: one 1 kg sachet of soluble mineral powder, NPK 6-17-15.
- The follow-on: 0.8 g of each formula per litre in pre-flowering, then 1.8 g of this powder alone in flowering.
- The end of the cycle: a nitrogen-free fertiliser replaces the powder for the last 10 to 15 days.
- Storage: sachet resealed, kept dry, below 30 °C and away from flames.
Mineral powder rich in phosphorus and potassium, from pre-flowering through to fruit set
DryPart Bloom is the flowering formula of the DryPart mineral powder fertiliser, with an NPK 6-17-15 formulation. When the plant forms its buds, it slows foliage production and uses more phosphorus and potassium, and this powder follows that change. It contains half as much nitrogen as the NPK 12-6-16 growth formula, but nearly three times as much phosphorus. It remains complete, with 7% calcium oxide, 7% magnesium oxide and 14% sulphur trioxide, so you do not need to add any other fertiliser during flowering.
🌸 Pre-flowering, then flowering
In hydroponics and on coco fibre, the transition happens in two stages. In pre-flowering, you dissolve 0.8 g of DryPart Bloom and 0.8 g of DryPart Grow per litre, which brings the conductivity of the solution to 1.6 to 1.9 mS. Once the flowers have formed, the growth formula is dropped and DryPart Bloom goes on alone at 1.8 g per litre, for a conductivity of 1.8 to 2.2 mS. For these two stages, the pH of the solution is set between 6.4 and 6.8, and no longer between 5.5 and 6.5 as during growth. For the last 10 to 13 days before harvest, a nitrogen-free ripening fertiliser takes its place, which causes a deliberate nitrogen deficiency and focuses the end of the cycle on the flowers and fruit. For a 60-litre reservoir, the quantities break down as follows.
Pre-flowering
You dissolve 48 g of DryPart Bloom and 48 g of DryPart Grow.
Flowering
DryPart Bloom on its own comes to 108 g for the 60 litres.
The last 10 days
You pour in 300 ml of ripening fertiliser, at 5 ml per litre.
Store the sachet away from heat and naked flames
DryPart Bloom is classified as an oxidising agent, which means that in a fire the powder can make the blaze worse. Store the resealed sachet in a dry place below 30 °C, away from combustible materials such as cardboard or wood, and out of the reach of children. The powder also causes serious eye damage, so wear goggles when dosing it and rinse thoroughly with water in the event of a splash.
Finish the crop with a nitrogen-free fertiliser
During the last 10 to 15 days, the nitrogen-free late-flowering fertiliser, NPK 0-6-5, replaces DryPart Bloom, at 5 ml per litre for about ten days in hydroponics and at 4 ml per litre for 15 days in soil. Deprived of nitrogen, the plant stops producing leaves and devotes its reserves to the flowers and fruit, which finish ripening. If you prefer to stay with a powder, the late-flowering fertiliser in powder form is dosed at 2 g per litre, or 1.5 g in soil.
🪴 In soil and in pots
In soil, the application chart provides for doses about a quarter lower. Pre-flowering is run with 0.6 g of each formula per litre, then DryPart Bloom is used alone at 1.3 g per litre in flowering, for a conductivity of 1.3 to 1.7 mS. For a potted tomato plant watered with a 5-litre watering can, you therefore dissolve 6.5 g of powder at each flowering feed, weighed to the gram on kitchen scales. The guide to growing tomatoes completes this programme with pruning and pollination of your plants.
🧪 Calcium and phosphorus together
In multi-part liquid fertilisers, the calcium is packaged separately because, when concentrated alongside phosphorus and sulphates, it forms insoluble compounds. Yet DryPart Bloom combines 17% phosphorus pentoxide, 7% calcium oxide and 14% sulphur trioxide in a single powder. In dry form, these elements sit side by side without reacting, and they only meet in solution once diluted to the working dose. You should therefore always add the powder to the full volume of water in the reservoir or watering can, and never to the bottom of a bucket to make up a stock solution, where part of the fertiliser would become insoluble.
📦 The 1 kg bag
At 1.8 g per litre, the full-bloom dose in hydroponics, the 1 kg bag makes up about 555 litres of solution, and about 770 litres in soil, where the dose is 1.3 g. Once opened, you can keep it for 2 years, resealed and dry, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, above which the powder tends to solidify. It may also form lumps in storage, which does not affect its effectiveness.
