This microbial biostimulant contains a rhizosphere bacterium, Azospirillum sp., at a minimum of 10 million colony-forming units per gram. It dissolves at 1 g per litre and is applied twice a year, at planting and again during the growing period.
It is approved for use in organic farming, in soil, on coco fibre, and in hydroponics.
The summary
- What you receive: a 10 g or 50 g sachet, or a 750 g, 3.5 kg, or 5 kg pack of powder.
- The dose: 1 g per litre of solution, or 1 kg per hectare in open ground.
- The schedule: two applications per year, at planting and then at peak growth.
- Preparation: the diluted solution must be used within 24 hours.
Beneficial root bacterium in powder form, to be applied at planting and throughout the growing cycle
Azospirillum are bacteria that live freely around roots, in the zone that botanists call the rhizosphere, where they feed on the sugars released by the roots. In return, they produce auxins, including indole-3-acetic acid, which stimulate root elongation and branching, and they play a role in the associative fixation of atmospheric nitrogen. This sachet allows you to inoculate these bacteria around the roots of your plants, whether in soil, a grow medium, or a nutrient solution.
This is not a fertiliser: the powder provides no nutrients, and you continue with your usual feeding programme. The product is a microbial biostimulant within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, category PFC 6.A, and carries the CE marking. Its declared effects cover rooting, nutritional efficiency, and tolerance to water, salt, and temperature stress. It is also approved for use in organic farming.
Feeding soil life with a humic acid
This powder inoculates the soil with bacteria, but does not supply it with organic matter. Liquid humic acid, derived from wood lignohumates, stimulates microbial activity and improves the structure of the grow medium. Apply it at 3 ml per litre at first root development, then at 4 ml per litre through to pre-flowering. You will get the most benefit from it in fresh compost or a recently filled bed, which are low in humus to begin with.
🦠 Two applications per year
The first application is made when the crop is set up, at seedling stage, at transplanting, or at planting. The second takes place during the growing cycle, through the vegetative growth phase, to renew the bacterial population around the expanding roots. Apply the solution to moist soil or a moist grow medium, or through the irrigation system, and avoid periods of intense drought or extreme heat, which hinder bacterial establishment.
In solution
1 g per litre of water or nutrient solution.
In open ground
1 kg per hectare, or 1 g per 10 m².
After dilution
Solution to be used within 24 hours.
Wear gloves and keep all bactericidal products away
The micro-organisms can cause sensitisation: wear gloves and eye protection when handling the powder, and wash your hands afterwards. The powder mixes with most fertilisers, but never with a bactericidal product, which would destroy the bacteria. Keep the packet sealed, above 5 °C, dry, and away from direct sunlight.
Take a 20 m² vegetable plot. At a rate of 1 kg per hectare, the application amounts to 2 g of powder, which you dissolve in a 10-litre watering can before watering at the base of the plants, right after planting. The 10 g sachet therefore covers 5 applications of this size, equivalent to 2 and a half seasons. In hydroponics, the dose of 1 g per litre applies to the solution, and a single application in a 10-litre tank uses the entire sachet.
💧 In hydroponics and in bioponics
In a soilless system, you dissolve the powder in the reservoir water and allow the solution to circulate. In organic hydroponics, where the nitrogen in the fertiliser must first be mineralised, the micro-organisms introduced from the outset help to bring the solution to life. With a mineral fertiliser, the bacteria can be added without adjusting the dose, and you correct the pH as normal using a pH drop test kit.
📦 Five sizes
The 10 g sachet makes 10 litres of solution at 1 g per litre, or treats 100 m² of open ground. The 50 g sachet makes 50 litres, or treats 500 m², which is suitable for a greenhouse or a large kitchen garden. The larger formats are aimed at professional growers, as 750 g treats 7,500 m² and 5 kg covers 5 hectares. Once opened, the sachet should be used promptly, and it keeps for 18 months from the date of manufacture. For the organic nitrogen in your organic crops, a powdered organic growth fertiliser complements the inoculation.
