EHEIM power supply and brackets for powerLED+ LED bar
The EHEIM powerLED+ light bars are sold without a power supply: the 40 W or 62 W unit is chosen according to their total power.
The raised brackets hold the light bar above the tank, for more even lighting and easier access.
The summary
- Which accessory: the 40 W block, the 62 W block or the brackets.
- Which block: depending on the total power of the light bars.
- The brackets: the light bar held above the surface.
- Compatibility: the blocks for the powerLED+ range.
The right power for your light bars, and a light mounted higher up
The EHEIM power supply for the powerLED+ LED light bar is available in 40 W and 62 W versions, as these light bars are sold without a power supply. The unit is chosen according to the total power to be supplied: 40 W up to the 1,226 mm light bar, 62 W for the longer ones or for 2 light bars. The EHEIM brackets raise the light bar.
EHEIM's powerLED+ LED strips run on low voltage and are sold without a power supply: you choose the unit according to the power of the strip, or strips, that it has to supply. This listing brings together the two most common units, 40 W and 62 W, along with a pair of raised brackets. These wire-frame hoops hold the strip above the tank instead of letting it rest on its rims.
🔌 Choosing the right power pack
Choose the power unit according to the total power of the light bars it will supply, shown on each bar's product page. The 40 W unit powers one powerLED+ bar up to a length of 1,226 mm. The 62 W unit takes over for the longest bars in the range, or for 2 bars whose combined power exceeds 40 W without exceeding 62 W, connected by the 2-output EHEIM splitter. If you add a second bar later, simply do the calculation again: the sum of the power ratings must stay within the capacity of the unit you have. Both units deliver a low voltage of 24 V and plug into an ordinary mains socket.
A dry feed, well away from splashes
Place the power supply away from the damp cabinet, clear of any water splashes, and form a loop in the cable below the socket: a drop running down the cable will then fall to the floor instead of reaching the socket. Always unplug the power supply before moving the light bar.
🔧 Raising the light bar
The raised brackets are sold in pairs, one for each end of the light bar. These wire hoops sit on the edges of the aquarium and hold the light bar above the surface, like a suspended lamp. They suit the powerLED+ and powerRGB light bars, as well as the older powerLED. For 2 light bars side by side, you need 2 pairs. The light then spreads over a larger area before reaching the water, the light bar stays clear of condensation and splashes, and you can put your hand under the light bar to feed your fish or clean the tank without taking anything apart.
On an open aquarium with no lid, the raised light bar also lets emergent plants grow above the surface without touching the lighting. Just check that the bar stays properly centred on its 2 brackets after each intervention, so that the light falls directly over the tank and not on the wall behind it. For a big clean, the bar lifts off its brackets without tools, then sits back in place in the same way.
A timer for lighting on a fixed schedule
If you do not control your light bar with a smart controller, a daily timer plugged in between the socket and the power supply switches it on and off at the same times each day. Your plants and fish thus keep a regular lighting period, even while you are away.
🌿 For a planted tank
In a planted aquarium lit by a powerful light bar, plant growth is often limited by CO2 rather than by light. The EHEIM pressurised CO2 kit supplies this gas in an adjustable way, and the dissolved CO2 drop test tells you whether the level achieved suits your plants without bothering the fish. A 24 V solenoid valve connected to the light bar then cuts off the gas when the lights go out, so that the lighting and the CO2 follow the same schedule.
